1972 SPORTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 20k orig miles

I listed this transmission on eBay. I have what I believe is a 1972 Sportomatic unit. This transmission was pulled by the second owner around the 1975 era with only 20,000 miles on it. It is in perfect working condition, although it has been sitting for over 30 years!

This transmission should only need seals if anything. If your car was originally a sporto then this could be your only chance to find a good working unit to make your car correct. Sportos are rare, most were thrown away and cores are a very hard find, this IS NOT a core, it is a working unit.

Included with the transmission: sporto pedal/foot board w/large brake pedal pad, oil pump that goes on the engine, torque converter, shift knob, copy of sevice manual for sporto, I may have the pedal assembly (I am not promising it with the sale yet, if I find the pedal assy then it is included).

    Price $2000
located in San Diego, freight is extra.

Wow Bill, very cool. I need to borrow some of that info for my ad. I see that the shifter is unique, I don't think I have the shifter

I looked at the manual I have and realized that it is a factory manual in a non factory binder! So it has all the color drawings. I was looking through it today, neat stuff.

I'd love to build a sporto car just to make it all work and see how it was but alas I have too many projects. I would think people are more willing to go back to sportos for originality and the fact that Tiptronic cars have caught on. I have sold quite a few Tip cars, of course every Porsche guys bitches about an automatic Porsche but the new Tips are excellent! The turbo tip is faster than the manual, without a doubt, I have driven both.

Anyone interested? I am sure you can't just buy a sporto anywhere.

Wow, a 72 sporto would be hard to find, imagine if you can find the original car to go with this.
