    Moving to Phoenix

Hello all, well I'm moving from Detroit to Phoenix by summer time. I've enjoyed all the members/outings of the Southeast Michigan chapter of the PCA. Also, many trips to the Watkins Glen Vintage Festivals with my 1971 91E Targa (Tangerine). I'm sure there's loads of fun to be had in the Phoenix area. Can anyone briefly tell about the "goin's on" there i.e. gatherings, PCA chapter events, tracks, rally's, Saturday morning chats, good repair shops and/or whatever. I certainly appreciate any info that will ease the mild pain of leaving "Motown", the greatest car town in this country. Really, there are cars tucked away in this city that would blow your mind. Is there a Wooward Ave. cruise in Phoenix? Thanks in advance guys....Leon

    Leon,

I moved from Michigan to AZ years ago, have never looked back. I was not too active with P car things there but there is an active PCA group in the valley. They run DE's and races at Firebird and PIR.
    Good Luck with Move,
    Phil

There are two AZ PCA regions, and though I live in Lo Cal, I have had fun running with both of them, as they are part of our Zone 8. Websites are http://az.pca.org/ and http://saz.pca.org/. I am not familiar with the truly local scene, but I don't think it will be hard for you to get dialed in to it quickly.

BTW, this thread isn't quite on topic for the "For Sale/Wanted: 911 Parts" forum, is it? Maybe it should be moved?

With an early E, it might get a little warm for you in the summer. It does for me and my cars have never had A/C. If you like drives, AX or DE's, we do it all. Let me know, I'll be happy to steer you in the right direction. AZ is a fairly active group, then there are the rouge members like me, who only see the members on track day/AX day.

TTweed, we are heading down to San Diego for your hosted Parade. Should be fun!

    Leon,

From PHX you are 6-7 hours south of some of the best alpine/mountain drives in the country...southern Colorado! We have roads here akin to those in the
Alps, your early 911 will be right at home. Please consider joining us in your
911E this summer, for the 2nd annual Early 911 Tour de Colorado !

    Good luck with the move.
