    alu licenseplate-panel

    Hey,

Does anyone have a picture of an early car with a non-painted aluminium licenseplate panel?

I wonder if it would look cool:

    Hi Johan,

Here is a pic of my 71 "silver" car with a none painted ally panel. I can't imagine there are many other pictures, these were only taken before the car was restored.

I'm with you Johan. Last summer I found a repro panel at a swap that was in pretty rough shape so I had no issue notching it for my exhaust. Once I stripped all the paint and filler off, I kind of became smitten with the tone of the bare aluminum. It's been there ever since.

In my mind, it kind of "marks" the car in the same way period racers would paint one panel to identify the car at speed. Also has a certain rat rod aesthetic that I like.

    Thorsten,

What muffler is that on your car? The pipes do not look to have the standard sport muffler spacing. They look to be partway between the standard narrower sport muffler spacing and the wider R/RSR ralley muffler spacing.
