    1972 911E - Ebay

Wow...bidding up to almost $60K for an E w/ Webbers
    MFI not included.

What is the going rate for a complete MFI system these days? $4-5K for everything used , plus refurbishing costs by Gus?
    Anyone know this car?

Well it's worse than that, the VIN # they sent me was for a T.

I was following this one as well and frankly I'm astounded. This one makes the Red '73 E that was at Motor Classic for $48k look like a bargain.

What is amazing to me is that @ $57,000 the reserve has not been met!

At $57,200 the reserve has still not been met is amazing!

The fact that the VIN is for a 1973 T Targa and the car has a 911T tach is not really important to anyone is it?

Wow! A 1972 911E repainted without the MFI that has air but no sport seats or other options has bids (25) to $57,200 and with 2 days left.

Plus the black 70 911S offered at $60,000 is very interesting. The car looks amazing but it is still a color change not matching numbers (orig case included) etc.

These and other recent sales has caused me to rethink the idea of selling and also the selling price of my original paint 1973 911E with a Sunroof. Sport Seats, Air, Full Leather plus more.

If this car has bids to $57,000 I now wonder how much a 1973 911E that is a very solid and straight car and a great driver with the MFI is worth?

The fact that it hasn't hit reserve to me means its probably been schill bid to this point. Let's see someone take it over reserve and then pay for it and then I will believe it.

i thought maybe the black car was a touch high in price as well given the hole shown in the tank support. Super nice looking interior though!

    crazy money!

i wonder if ebay has a notification option that says 'notify me when bastard T prices go through the roof!'?

I am with the rest of you on this. The bidding level for this car is way above what a good clean original 2.4E would normally go for. Therefore the scam radar is up...
What really sucks is how Ebay now blocks ID's on all bidders, thereby making it impossible to determine which bidders are real and which aren't. EBay presented this as a way to protect against bidding scams. But the truth is EBay wasn't smart enough to figure out a way to deal with the scam problem directly, so they went the opposite direction and blocked all of the auction bidding information to protect themselves from being pulled into lawsuits as a 3rd party. As a result, they have made shill bidding easier than ever to get away with.
The bottom line in dealing with Ebay as a buyer is to simply decide on a price which you feel is acceptable to you, bid, and let whoever wants to bid the car thru the roof have it - if their bids are real. On more than one occassion when losing an auction I have received emails from the seller within hours after the auction ended offering me a second chance to buy at my high bid offer because the winning bidder has backed out.
I am pretty certain that is this is what the seller here will do as well. Drive the price up as high as possible, and then go back to the highest bidding legit bidders and see if they can close the deal.

you know if things really get out of hand with these cars i would consider selling out and replacing with a stripped down SC w/ PMO's and glass bumpers to get rid of the accordians. The extra cash could put a 914 in the garage with it and buy me a lift and lots of tools to play with too!

I can see it now.....2 days to go and current bidding at $30,000 for my bastard T....
Pat, I'll take the 220v Millermatic for $1900, the 42" stainless toolbox for $650, the scissors lift for $1700, the complete set of Snap-On Techwrench torque wrenches for $750, the Hoosiers on cookie cutters for $1000, the 46mm PMO's for $3200, the '80 SC w/ 99k miles and great paint for $14k.............how much do i have left Pat?....Let's see.......
