    Numbers Guru's...Name This Plz!

    67S
    body #305770
    engine #3280900
    original color Olive

Can anyone verify what these serial numbers are???? My research shows early production '66 on the body and '68 US coupe engine (NOT an S engine). I'd really appreciate the help on this as I'm looking at buying the car but only as matching numbers...asking $5000 cdn...it IS a rot bucket but restorable as almost everything is there for it.
All comments welcomed and appreciated...good or bad. Thanks folks.

Well, being that it's not numbers matching and it would cost a fortune to restore, I'm taking a pass on this one. If anyone wants it, let me know. He's asking $5000 cdn (that's like about $50 usd... )

Boxster 03 is correct in the identification of both chassis and engine. In my humble opinion even though this is a 67 car with a 68 L engine (with Webers?), the parts value of the car will be in excess of $5000.

Your reference to the elferhelfer site prompts me to comment that this appears to be another individual that has used the data I compiled for my Original Porsche 911 without crediting the source. I was given unprecented access to the build records in Ludwigsburg (Porsche's sales and marketing headquarters) to do Original and I note the 'elfer' tables seem to reproduce mine line by line. Sorry to sound scratchy on this.
The Brett Johnson book remains one of the best early 911 source documents on trim and colours.

    Production information

    Peter,

I, for one, would be very interested to see the results of your research. Forgive me, but where do I find it? Thanks.

Well, 305770 was made in the fourth quarter of 1966, which makes it a '67 model year 911 Normal. This should have had a 901/06 engine with the soft cams, although I should check the cut-over date for the cams in the little white book.

Interesting discussion. I used that Red Book to verify my findings. Yes the car does have webers on it and a ton of great original parts. What drew my attention was when it was listed as a '66S by the owner yet the book shows differently...easy to see it was early '67 production probably 4th quarter '66. It's a great find for somebody, just not me so please let me know if ya want it folks...it's not far from my home so I can help secure it or have it delivered to my place for you to retrieve at your leisure. Glad to help someone looking for just such a beast.
