Rust Free California BLUE PLATE Car

This car was a “Tourist Delivery” vehicle that was purchased directly from Porsche on June 9th 1972 by a man from La Jolla, California 92037. The car was driven daily and then traded to Alan Johnson Porsche/Audi around April 1976 with 41,779 miles on it. The paperwork on the car shows 3 owners since 1980, all of which are San Diego California Addresses. The last owner drove the car until 1996 when the engine spun a rod bearing. The engine was pulled apart, the car sat in dry storage until March 2007.

This car is an easy fix project with unlimited potential. This is a complete car with no major parts missing. To get it running and driving: The car needs an engine built for it and minor service to the rest of the car. The paint is in poor condition, the interior is also in poor but complete condition. The door pockets have been removed, they are included but in poor condition. The actual mileage is unknown. There is no rust found on the underside of the car (see pictures), ALL pans are solid and need NO welding or metal repair. There are a couple small surface rust bubbles on the exterior body that will need attention, no major body metal work is needed, only minor. This is a San Diego California local car, we get rain here on very rare occasions, there is no snow or ice, this car is as solid as they come. The suspension is a competitive setup as used on the 911S of the same day, big vented brakes, alloy calipers and trailing arms for a low unsprung weight, front and rear swaybars, beautiful Fuchs alloys!

The car was originally Mechanically Fuel Injected but the system was replaced with a quality pair of Weber 40 IDAs. The crank may need to be replaced, same with the rods. The case appears good, NOTE that this car is a 2.4/2.7 7R mag case with blank number pads, this engine could be re-numbered to this car or numbered to??????? My recommendation on the engine is to build a 2.7 RS Spec engine for Weber carburetion, or whatever you can dream up.
