Thread: Wheel Re-stitching?

    Wheel Re-stitching?

I've done a "search" on the topic, however, I didn't come across any viable leads for re-stitching wheels.

The original leather wrapped wheel from my '72 needs to be restiched. The leather is in good condition, so only re-stitching is needed.

Can anyone recommend someone here in the US that provides this service?

    Thanks,
    Cheers!

Tony Garcia at Autobahn Interiors. He's in San Diego. He did my wheel recently. An excellent job and a great guy to work with. # 619 546 4807

    Frank,
Its not hard to do once you figure out the pattern. I did my own and it turned out well.
if you use Tony, just make sure that he does the correct "baseball" stitches on the spoke area, and not just the "X' stitching used on the rest of the wheel. This is teh only complaint I have seen on re-stitching jobs.

I have had a wheel partly restitched by a sadler (as in horses). She did a fine job and only wanted a couple of ££s

I had my original RS wheel restitched by Ray Paterek in New Jersey (Paterek Brothers) Absolutely correct, concours work, down to the composition of the stitching material. Terrific people, mainly known for 356 work
