You think Early S cars have been hot lately, the Carreras have totally caught fire lately. I see he has another now for sale. If anyone is interested in the car rest assured that Juergen is very honest and a real Porsche enthusiast.

Brian, the ad states that this car is in CA. IS this the same car that was at Monterey in '05??? It was driven down from San Francisco, and was for sale at that time for $45K. Same color, LIME GREEN. It would be hard to believe that there are 2 Lime Green Euro's in California....I wonder....
What's the color of his other one>???

Big bumper guys,
OK the '74-'76 Euro Carreras have the 2.7 RS 210 MFI engine but, frankly..IMHO...the later big bumper cars such as the later Carrera's and even SCs are, well, better cars.
For many years owners of these cars have wanted a premium for them but few have been successful. Now, under the premise that a rising tide lifts all boats the post '73 cars are looking for a boost. IMHO, Bruce Anderson's old adage "buy the best 911 you can afford" applies. For the 911s with the big bumpers, it it were me, I'd get the latest Carrera. Or, to put it another way, these are not the icons that this list is all about.
OK...let the flames fly..

It has a R-Gruppe sticker on the windshield-- so the car is in the club!
This is not true here in Australia - the 74-75 MFI Carreras are fetching up to 6 figures here - basically tripling in price over the past 5 years or so. Even the Carrera 3.0s are picking up in price here too, definitely more expensive than SCs or even Carreras.Originally Posted by Dr 911E

Hello guys,
first off, I am marketing the lime green car for its owner. It is in California and may very well be the car that was for sale in 2005.
As far as collectability and value for "big bumber" cars go I can only report what I experienced first hand. Over here in Europe correct 2.7 Euro Carreras are selling for pretty high prices. Last week, an orange car with not too much of documentation, yet very stunning in orange sold for 75k Euro in the UK. Freisinger Motorsport in Germany has a mexicoblue car in inventory for 80k Euro firm, That car was also at Techno Classica in Essen. Another white car sold in Luxembourg for over 50k Euro. There are a number of people, me included, that do believe the 2.7 Euro Carrera is one Porsche to have. The performance pretty much matches that of the RS Touring, as both cars weigh exactly the same, 1075kg. I had RS owners driven my Euro Carrera and not feeling a measurable difference. I doubt that can be said of any other "big bumper" car. Especially the somewhat lame SC will not even come close in performance. To me, the Euro Carrera 2.7 marks the end of an era with very exciting engines. Everything later was tamed in my humble opinion.
The other point is production#. 1026 coupes in 74, 518 in 75 and 123 in 76. I left out the Targas, as they seem not to attract the pricing and collectabilty of the Coupe. That is only slightly more Coupes than the RS in my book. How many are left in good condition?? Should we start counting the SC and following models?? I think those cars will continue to attract the knowledgeable collector as they still deliver RS performance for about 1/2 the price. Yes it used to be a 1/3 of the price 2 years ago, but this is the market at work.
Brian thanks for your kind words. Hope to see you again soon!!

I have a 77 3.0 Carrera that I bought from the original owner in Frankfurt Germany in 1982. Original car with miles in the 40's. All the books, tools, ect. I just took the car apart 100% and did just a respray in it's Minerva blue. Never dinged, nor a spec of rust. Just tired paint. While I was at it, I rebuilt the motor. I installed S cams, 9:5:1 pistons, and the MFI system the same as the 74 Carrera RS. Have not fired it up yet, but the completion date is by the endof the month.
