Thread: Show Your Seats

The perorations should be diamond not square. Maybe Porsche ran out of the original stuff.

Here is a close-up of the material that covers the seat bolsters. It is dimpled with perforations and not simply perforated. My understanding is this is factory correct.

The invoice is for the Pepita fabric, not the vinyl. But there are also good news for you. The horizontal
layout of the Pepita fabric is right, in contrary to many recovered seats.

Perhaps someone could post a picture of dimpled diamond perforated vinyl for comparison?

@brent: I added a second picture, unfortunately I can no longer enter the text - so here: in the further picture you can see clearly that the seat back has the original perfo. the lower part of the seat was made later with a false (square) letherette. in addition still in poor quality because very matt etc. regards uwe

Hello Brent, the different dimpling of the material has several reasons. See my AI thread :

    https://www.early911sregistry.org/fo...-Correct-vinyl

The material was never delivered in that way. The dimpling came with the age and depends on several factors as exposion to the sun a.s.o

This foto shows the original perforation as it was delivered in the 60th/70th

Going thru old photos tonight and ran across this one; a comfort seat out of my 67S next to a race bucket out of the 68S. Gives a good size perspective. The weight differential is pretty significant as well.

Exposed perforated vinyl vs non exposure

I agree with 911int. Here are some photos of my original vinyl 68 sport seats. The first two photos are from the bottom of the seat (non exposure) and the second two photos are the exposed areas. Name: E03E007C-DE76-480A-BEA0-744078F83AD0.jpg

Another thing good to see in Anthony's pictures is the partial loss of the embossing deepness.
