    Question unstamped case

i have a 4r unstamped case which i am thinking of selling, it was put in my car around 73/74 after the origonal engine was shrapnelled, but have come across the engine for my 72 era which will make it as an origonal car as can be, is this a good idea, would apreciate your views and comments, thanks, frank

Opinions are really not worth much, but since you asked: I'd rather have an unstamped case than one that is the wrong number for the car. THe former was born in your car for a good reason, and the latter was born in some other car,was taken out for unknown reasons, and will never match the cardex.

THe blank one is actually original to your car!

Frank; Is the case 4R both halves or is it in fact 4R/5R. As I have understood there was no 4R both halves cases? At least all the ones I have seen is 4R/5R combo.

Hello: Keep the no stamp case. It will be worth more with it than the wrong stamped case. When Porsche replaced cases back then they did so with no numbered cases. In fact some of the race cases were not stamped either if sold as a backup engine for a race car. Hope this helps. Thanks, Eric

I've seen at least 3 factory "race case" engines that were not stamped and remain so to this day. One is out of the Tony Adamowicz car that he and Bruce Jennings co-drove to the class victory in 1969 and 4th over all.

:agree: Keep the unstamped. At this point it says more about the repair than the wrong # case would.
