This is in reality is yet another '66 owner trying to capitalize on the recent popularity surge of the '65.
By my recollection, production of the '65 MY stopped (as always) in August at around chassis#301920. The owner even hints at the possibility of this being a '66 with the reference to the "produced after the Factory Vacation Break" and to the 66 paint code. But this doesn't stop him from trying to push it as '65.
Be merciful, pull the good parts off, and ....... put a bullet through it, then call the recycler to come haul the carcass away.

PS: If anybody buys it, I'll take the hood and all the glass if period correct
I believe it's also a '65 but model 66.
Mine is 302831 and is built in November 65 according to the COA but model 66.
If you mix the chassis numbers they are both the same
Auction: 302138
Mine: 302831
Funny coincidence (sorry for off topic..)
Sorry to burst your loyalty bubble towards "the Factory" but the "factory" no longer has any direct involvement with creating the COAs. The COAs are researched and produced by an outside vendor for Porsche.Originally Posted by kenaichoochoo
The outside vendor often relies on information supplied by the owner. I have received several COAs that were wrong BECAUSE I had the corresponding Kardex from Porsche for those particular cars.
Porsche takes the low bid from vendors that want the COA contract. There have been three (3) different COA venders in the last several years and it is currently staffed by younger girls that although they try hard, are not that knowlegeable.
The first COA for my '74 RSR stated that it had a "Turbo look Body Kit" as one of the options .......DAAAAA, the '74 was two(2) years before the Turbo ever came to market ...... oops, but I should believe the "Factory COA"
By the way, the ebay ad mentions nothing about a "COA" but you go on believing the "factory " document.
But you don't need to trash this site OR the many knowledgeable enthusiasts on here or be a smart ass!.
Since Baron has (owns) 6, read that SIX 1965 911's and 3 1966 911's I feel he is more than competent to answer questions on what is and isn't real.
A COA has become a bit of a joke in comparison to the original Kardex.
I've had at least 3 COA's that were incorrect including transposed serial numbers, incorrect colors and equipment. Yes, they re-did every one of them but they all came back in different formats.
Now, on the other hand, you cannot beat good documentation. I'll pay more for a car with good documentation. The "he said, she said" business is BS and best left to "used car salesmen and shifty brokers".
Just because your title says '65 it means nothing. I have several 1960 BMW motorcycles that are titled as '61 or '62 models. Unfortunately, they never made these particular bikes after 1960. They sat in dealer stock and were titled the year they were sold.
There have been many cars and motorcycles among others that have been incorrectly titled due to an obvious clerical error like this. It was very common to title a car or bike in the year that it was sold regardless of model year cutoff.
Final word: You don't own a '65.

I have a 1964, built 12/22/64, number 300221. It has the same filler for the washer bottle high up on the passenger side of the front fender as this car has from the pictures of the trunk area. I know Bob Fleming would know when this was moved to the front of the car on the drivers side, down by the front of the hood area. Bob, any comments?
