    Hi Benji,

VIN denotes 1972 TV-E Targa (2.4 with carbes)

Engine number OTOH is for late 2.0L S (with MFI, not carbes).

    Hopes this helps.

    Cheers,
    Lisa

    thanks for the info lisa!
i'm really confused because the porsche red book states that it is a '72 coupe and the engine is a 3 liter from an sc. what reference book did you use?

    Well memory really ...

But here's confirmation from the Porsche Technical spec books:

    VIN# 9112510361 : model year 1972 Targa chassis number range 911 251 0001 - 911 251 1523. The 6th digit being a "1" signifies Targa; if it was a Coupe that digit should be "0".

    Engine # 6390147 - well it is a 1969 2.0L S number; engine type 901/10.

It is also a 1979 ROW SC number for engine type 930/09 (I think the type is right).

So - what do you think you've got?

    hi lisa,
i think you're correct on the chassis. i will have to check on the engine casse to check on whether it's a 3 liter or a 2.0. i'm hoping that it's a 2.0S!
    thanks again!
