    rear view mirror adhesive?

My mirror fell off the windshield.Didn`t brake! Does anyone have a recomendation for an adhesive or know what the factory used? I`m seeing the need to avoid air bubbles that could be seen from outside and also leaving excess glue at the glass/pad border. Thanks Tom

Go get the kit at Autozone. No problem reattaching it. Happened to me twice. Has lasted a year now, no adhesive pad but a liquid adhesive drop.

    Tom,

There is a little "double sided" sticky pad made specifically for your mirror to attach it to your windsheild. The are cut to fit your mirror exactly.

I always get them from my mechanic.

I'd use the factory adhesive pad. The mirror bases are too large for glue. If you use glue, and need to remove the mirror, you will break the windsheld. I, unfortunately, speak from experience.

    Tom,

Check to see if the adhesive pad you get from the supplier is something other then white. They used to be black, then kind of grey... then, for some stupid reason, recently white....

Black or grey is the way to go...

I lived with the back side of a white mirror pad looking back at me through the front of my windshield for 3 years...

    Hope this helps,
    Cheers,

Couldn't agree more on the pad vs. glue thing. The original owner of my car reattached the mirror with glue, and I have to look at the sloppy mess every time I wipe down the outside of the windshield. UGLY!

I got two from my body shop about two years ago. They were a charcoal gray.

I used glue on my SC and mounted it slightly off to better suit my height. I tried to relocate it and "no can do"... I'm told that with a heat gun I could soften the glue but I decided not to try. I used the 3M or Loctite adhesive.

Next time, I'll use the factory pad.
