    '71 Targa 911S tires

    Hello,

I need some help from you. I have a '71 Targa 911S witch is actually with Pirelli P6000 205 R 15. The car is lowered and it's for a street use only (no track). I need to change my tires. My mecanic told me to buy BF Goodrich G Force Sport or Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus. Can you told me what you think about this tires ? Is there a better choice ? Thank you for your help.

I like my Yokohama 100ES's, I have mixed opinions about the Michelins that your mechanic recomended-I think those come on Toyota Camary's. I believe that Chuck Miller runs BFG street tires on his '73S. I would suggest that you stick with a performance oriented tire that is rated to at least an HR? Do you want a classic tread pattern?

Thank you for the information. Those two tires are V rated. I don't care about classic tread pattern. My car is for every day driving and I would prefer performance to classic look. It seems to be difficult to find a performance tire in the size...

    tire choices

Tire choices for our cars with 15 inch rims are limited, especially in a VR rated tire. Go to Tirerack.com and check out their selection to get an idea of what is available. I recently put BF Goodrich g-Force Sport 205/60 15's on my 73S. I first tried the Bridgestone 960 series tire which I didn't care for as it wasn't as direct feeling as the Goodrich tire. I am very happy with my choice, and the price was very reasonable.

To clarify, I run Bridgestone S-03's on the street... and they spoil you, but alas, my sizes are no longer available...

BTW- The S-03 rears (w/2 degrees negative) last me an average of about 8000 miles before they go off...

I suggest getting the best performance tire that fits and looks right ...

    Cheers,

Thank you again for your help. I've been on tirerack.com. The BF Goodrich g-Force Sport 205/60 15's seems to be the best choice. The Yokohama's AVS ES100 seems to be intresting too... I will probably go for the BFG.

    Thank you again
