Thread: Backup Lights

    Backup Lights

The backup lights are not working on my '71 911T. The multimeter shows no resistance across both bulbs and no voltage at either socket with the transmission in reverse and the key on. This leads me to think they are alright and the problem is back at the switch. Another thread on the forum eluded to the switch being on the transmission. The previous owner had the transmission rebuilt and I am hoping it's a simple fix like something not getting re-connected. Where is the switch located and how is it accessed?

It is on the passenger side of the gearbox and is accessed from underneath the car. Two wires with bullet ends should be plugged in to the switch.

OK, so I managed to squeeze under the car. Lucky for me I am only 150lbs and have skinny head. I found the switch. When I short out the leads the backup lights come on. Thanks for your help. The car is going into the shop on Wednesday so I'm going to have them put it on the hoist and take it from here.
