    7" & 8" Fuchs on a 71

    Has anyone used 7& 8" Fuchs on a stock body 71? I am planning on 205 &
    225/50's. Sorry I don't have the p/n's
    Thanks,
    50/50

8's rarely fit underneath stock rear flares, maybe with max negative camber and fender rolling.

It is hard enough to fit a 225 on a 7" rim under stock fenders without rubbing. 8" is out of the question, without reshaping the fender, unless you have a magician fit a 951 8x16" by modifying your rear suspension and alignment sufficiently. I believe Tyson did this and made it work on a car or two while he was at TRE.

Marco should be able to relate his experience with the 8x16" 951 Fuchs on his hot rod. Since he mentioned "hand-formed bulges" on the rear fenders, I don't think he was able to make them work with the stock body. The 911 offset 8x15 and 8x16 Fuchs have 1/2" less backspacing, so I don't think there's any chance of fitting them on a stock narrow body.

    15 x 7 Fuchs with 205 tires?

Is it possible to fit 15 x 7 Fuchs with 205/60 tires under the stock rear LWB fenders?

How much negative camber would I need to make it fit?

I already have 21 mm front torsion bars and 26 rear torsion bars. The rear ride height has been lowered to 24.25" to the rear fender lip with the current deep six Fuchs.

    Thanks,

    Bert-
205 tires on 7" rims should not be a problem. That's what I ran on my '73 before I put the RS flares on it, and it had the same torsion bars as yours at the time, and about the same ride height, with -1.75 degrees camber in the rear.

    Tom,

Thanks for the information. Did you run 7" or 6" Fuchs in the front on your '73?

    here's your answer

Call Harvey Weidman (530-534-7903) He's just made a set of 8" wheels for me that fit under early cars (69-73) with 225 x16'.

At that time, I ran 6x15" Fuchs in the front on the street, and 7" ATS cookie cutters all around for autox/track work.
