What kind of brand mirror is the outside black mirror on this 73 RSR? Where they fitted from the factory, and where they delivered on other Porsches of the time?

John,
The RSRs left the factory with their original '73 'small rectangle' mirror... after the teams got a hold of them it was anybodies guess...
However, almost all of the period pics I have seen, and almost all the restored RSRs I have seen have been the period 'small rectangle' ...
Hope this helps,

Thanks Steve and Chuck! I have seen that model also in chrome/stainless steel on a 74RSR . I guess these where installed after factory, replacing the originals. I also read that RHD 74/75 RSR was delivered with a black square mirror with a VW parts number.

There were two sizes of the original Sebring mirrors offered, one in a variety of colors.
The Sebring Mach I 4" mirror with housing in silver, red, black leather effect, and chrome. I had two of the red ones on a 56 Speedster back in the late 60s.
The Sebring Mach II large 5" mirror with housing in chrome only.
I think the Kremer 74 RSR 3.0s used Sebring mirrors. Almost all his earlier race 911s used Talbots.
Vitaloni acquired the design at some point and they are still available under that brand. The original ones just have the Sebring name stamped on them; the later Vitaloni versions carry that marking.
