Help me indentify this sport seat base

Ok so I am posting this for my father Caproader. He bought this sport seat base some years back. It was only the one base and it had no rails. At this point he doesnt believe he needs it and he would like to sell it, but in an effort to have truth in advertising, he wants to know exactly what it is. We suspect that its an early sport seat base being that the rails are not attached, but we can't really confirm this. Other theories include a one time off reproduction in someones shop for an early car. And we had someone suggest that it could even possibly be for a 914 sport seat. So with that in mind from the pictures below what can you guys tell me? If you want a different angle or shot let me know and I will do what I can. Thanks for looking and the help.

    Recaro Aftermarket Seat Base

This seat base is the standard pattern used for most aftermarket Recaro seats sold in the late 60s early 70s.

Recaro dealers sold models of these seat brackers drilled for specific models of cars.

However, I cannot identify the mounting pattern of the holes on this base.

That is an aftermarket seat base.

They were sold for VWs , BMWs etc. How much are you asking?

    Thumbs up

as stated above i am not the one selling, that would be my father. i am merely the technology officer for this little project (ie take some pics and get them online). as for the sale itself that can be taken up with caproader. feel free to send him a message. this isn't really a question of how rare or how much is this worth, but more of a question of making sure we inform the buyer (whomever they may be) of exactly what they are buying to the best of our ability.

    Hi John,

Your dad showed me this base at the Taj car show the other day. What I don't understand is why there are only three holes for attaching the base to the floor of the car. This is a passenger side base but there is no hole on the front left hand corner so it can only be bolted down on 3 corners. A mystery to me.

yes tis one of the many mysteries surrounding this base. hopefully we can collect some answers. I can't think of anything in that area that might get in the way and prevent mounting, but then again there are people on here who have been doing this for longer than I have been alive soooooo.

    Guys,
Many thanks to #1 son for the posting effort on this.

I'm the guy who picked this up some time ago as part of a larger colllection of parts. When I got it, it was bolted to the bottom of a 73 sport seat.

50 bucks plus shipping takes it. Or if you'd like, come to Cincinnati and pick it up.

I am very much interested and would like to have first shot at it but wonder is it wide enough for a 911? Does it bolt on like the regular 73 Porsche sport seats? What is the distance between the two holes (measured side to side, not front rear)?
