Thread: RSR Replica wanted... Now found!

  1. #21
just a quick up-date, the car has now arrived in the UK, pictured here being collected from Southampton docks and loaded into Neil Bainbridge's trailer for the journey to Neil's workshop at BS Motorsport.

Quick test run to blow out the cobwebs from the container!

Mad rush now to ready the car for the Silverstone Classsic event in 2 weeks, booked on the Porsche Club of Great Britain's pre 74 track day on the National circuit. Hope it meets the noise requirements

Thanks again Gib, will keep you posted with the progress.
    cheers, Mike

Well all the hard work and the long hours, the driving between home and Neil Bainbridge at www.bsmotorsport.co.uk everyday, and working with Kevin O'Rourke at www.mototechnique.com painting the bonnet at midnight on the Friday, was all worth it as the car made it to the Silverstone Classic weekend and Porsche Club of Great Britain track-day yesterday.

The car ran faultlessly and received high praise from the likes of Josh Sadler a leading British Porsche expert from Autofarm, and on the Sunday, from the ex formula 1 driver Mike Wilds, who shook it down and showed me how it should be driven!

Here's Rob at BS Motorsport dong the geometry set up on the thurs:

Then Friday 11.30pm at Moto-Technique as Kevin does the final sanding:

Midnight as the laquer goes on:

On display at Silverstone, sneaked it next to a real one for a photograph:

    It kept good company:

finally three from the pit lane:

Should have some 'action' pictures soon.

now to take it apart again for the twin plugging and underside protection, got a bit of time this time, before Classic Le Mans and the Targa Florio re-run next year.........

    Thanks again Gib.
    cheers, Mike

Just been sent one of the 'action' pictures from its first outing in the UK, certainly seems to look as though it belongs on a track!

My wamest congrats....... that is a correct ride. And to track her is perfect. Good luck to you.

A question....when using the white gumball race number backgrounds..is there clear coat OVER them or are they simply adhered on?.....Im surprised some hi dollar cars would put them on permanently.

Hi, the white number backgrounds on this car are stick on vinyl, its the latest thin type which mould to the shape and once polished over look painted on.
All the stripes are painted though!
