Chuck/Peter - Can we get the ESR shop updated with an earlier build date of 12/69 for the Weltmeister 1969 decal? I was helping another member with decal location information and 70SATMan had a follow-up post that his 1/70 build had the decal. Digging into this further, found this thread where Michael mentioned this 13 years ago!

1 '69 Starting approx. December, 1969 until approx. March, 1971

Now really geeking out on these decals, I have a reproduction on my 2/70 build with the "1969" in the center like the later decals (left below) however the ESR shop and Michael has the 1969 around the outside right.

Can someone educate me on these two versions?

    Thumbs up

    Duane,

YES, we will look into updating our site and shop page... Thank you ...

As I mentioned earlier in this thread the 1969 World Championship was short and ended in August (at Zeltweg)... However Porsche had the points sewed up by round 6 in May... Assuming Porsche wouldn’t declare the championship till at least the last round... then printing and distributing... Maybe in Oct... ?

As to the two different designs... I am not sure where or when the 1969 Welt 'date in the middle' decal started... But I trust ours is correct...

Thanks for the head's-up and hope some of this helps,
    Chuck

Never a doubt as I've seen photos with that same decal on original windshields.

Here's the other version on my car. Hoping someone with knowledge of the history of these can chime in.

Is it possible decals were different based on the market cars were sold?

Would this sticker be correct for a 12/70 built 71T? Or should it have the 69/70/71 sticker?

Has it been that long already? Now that I have my Kardex, I must amend my build date. It’s 12/69 and my car has an original decal.

Yes, Smiles, a 12/70 build would most likely have the 69/70 decal. For sure not the 71 dated decal.
