    HISTORY

    - 1971 Porsche 911E
    - Rare Sportomatic transmission
    - Australian-delivered

If you are in the market for an early Porsche 911, they don’t come much better than this example. Delivered new by Hamilton’s in Melbourne in July ’71, this 911 has led a pampered life. Its first owner cared for it for 20 years until his passing at 89 years of age. Needless to say then, it presents in very good condition from its near-flawless Medium Ivory paint to its factory-original polished Fuchs alloys. All the brightwork is in good condition save for some scratching to the stainless trim here and there. Inside, it is trimmed in a brown leatherette with matching carpets, all in great condition, as is the perforated white headlining. There is a period Pioneer radio/Eight Track unit in the otherwise excellent dashboard, whose top is not cracked from the sun like so many of these early cars were. Significantly, this is a rare Sportomatic-equipped 911 … the Sportomatic was a clutchless semi-automatic transmission which used a torque converter in conjunction with an automatic clutch and four-speed gearbox. Thus, the driver changed gear conventionally but without needing to use the clutch. It was available only from 1967 to 1980 and is a rare option on these early cars. Our ’71 Porsche 911 was also factory optioned with a sunroof and front oil cooler, plus it is being offered for sale with handbooks showing delivery to the first owner and some service history along with a large amount of receipts from over the years. It has undergone a recent tidy up and is only being sold reluctantly because its avid Porsche collector owner is returning overseas. A lovely car, this Australian-delivered 911E is sure to be met enthusiastically by the global Porsche fraternity. The 1971 Porsche 911E is being offered for sale here unregistered.

    Seller's Description:

Anyone looking for a 1973 E 911? I am thinking about selling it. The car is in Honolulu, Hi. Make me an offer I can’t refused. The car runs/drives. Last started one week ago. Pretty much stock but the engine might have been bored to 2.7 by previous owner. Aloha! Not perfect but everything works, even original radio. Just drove it down the street. Started right on first crank after one week of sitting. Mileage is 90123. Miles/engine/trans are original.
