    FS: @eBay - 1966 911 Coupe in N. VA

    # 303982

I saw this car at the Porsche of Tysons 991 unveiling event. It's a clean car with a nice interior. There are a few oddities, but nothing that a few hours and a few dollars couldn't remedy. Previous ebay listing was a buy it now for ~ $80K. That may give you a feel for the reserve.

Does anyone know anything about this car? Seems to have a fairly complete history.

p.s. goes without saying, but not my car.

"Near salt free" Northern Virginia? Except in winter, in my experience.

Reminds me of when they closed I-81 in Northern VA a couple years ago the weekend before Christmas, stranding my family in a motel for a couple days while we waited for the salt trucks to do their job.

It does look like a nice car. Not much translation needed from the recent Rosetta Stone thread here:

Done: Engine; transmission; suspension; gauges; wheels; rust repair & primer; brakes; paint
In progress: electrical; the tedious, endless, horrible fastener sorting/plating

These days with Ossi blue only used for two years, are there any Factory Ossi cars left around to compare? unlikely. Not many of us know what Ossi blue should look like. Early Gulf blue has the same problem. Ossi looks like gulf blue and visa versa. chris

oscillon (or DanM) - out of curiosity, what did you notice was off when you saw the car in person?

Well, just some minor touches that seems slightly off. Someone pointed out the replacement floor pans. I noticed some oddly painted calipers and the non-koni or bilstein shocks in the back, screwy plug wires, incorrect fuel pump, MSD ignition and the associated cobbled wiring that probably goes with that. Incorrect paint on the fan strap. Neither restored or original looking air cleaner paint. Carpet could be installed better at the a-pillar. Painted horn button ring (should be chrome). Odd shift boot. I think the bumper guards are cheap repops, but I could be wrong. shut lines around the tops of the doors are bit big. I think the badge is a new repop.

Just little blah blah items that a good shop that knows these cars could fix in a few days. The hard stuff is nice. Chrome is nice, body seems to be straight and the engine and trans match. All bonus items.

It seems to be one of those cars that is in between being restored and being original. I would say it's a good driver that should certainly be driven (a lot).

Overall, I think it's a much nicer car than mine, and I would love to own it.

"THIS 911 HAS SPENT ITS ENTIRE LIFE IN THE NEAR SALT FREE CLIMATE OF VA"

I have to call BS here. We've used worse than salt in VA.

Thus the reason for the floor pan replacement.
