Thread: 911E Cars for Sale

[QUOTE=DOUGS73E;795871]Is the redline mark on the tach accurate for a '69 'E' ?
    ---------------------------------------------------
    For the record:

    VIN: 117481262
    Mileage: 93,149 km

    QUOTE]

Not sure where you got that VIN from. The listing just says the last 3 digits are 161 - as I read it.
Also not sure about that tach - shame the glovebox insignia is not very distinct...might smell a bit like a 'T'.

That JPY5,000,000 is just the start bid - who knows what the reserve is.

The history would give me the heebee jeebies. Would have a difficult time driving it without gloves on.

"Offered to act in one of his movies if he would reduce the price of the car".

    Classic.

    Where's the paint I.D. plate?

Hi Frank, We spoke last summer or fall as I was earlier on in my search for a 911. You offered a number of helpful pieces of advice and I am most appreciative. Regarding this car the original owner does indeed go beyond being a character though that has little bearing on my interest. As for the second owner's offer to act is just funny. Either way the car survived them both and has lived out most of existence in dry mild climates and is all the better for it. In the first five minutes of seeing the car I was truly jonesing for it and after a thorough inspection and a short drive prepared to negotiate.

Below is a link to a photo on flicker of the chassis number as well as a host of other photos.

The only detail that has me a bit mystified are the knobs on the defogger and cigarette lighter (see link below). I'd thought I had seen these before and in looking through many many photos of 69 and 70 911's I finally found them on some earlier ('69) cars and given this 1970 car was delivered on 12/24/69 it seems plausible that they were going thorough those parts bins during the build of this car. Just a hunch though the headlight is the softer mushroom shaped knob. Not a deal-breaker though curious what you and others might think about this or other things that might need to be addressed. Thanks for any constructive thoughts. Cheers, GJ

It looks to me to be a very nicely restored car. I am restoring a 69 Tangerine over Tan E right now. There are a few comments that could be made about correct paint finishes etc., but I think over all it looks really nice. As far as the switch gear goes I did not see a photo of the ignition side of the dash, but the center dash switches do not look correct for a 70 model year, unless I'm missing something. The chassis and tub of the car look to be in really perfect original condition. I would kill for floors and rear seat areas like that on mine. Good luck with your ownership, and drive the hell out of it, that's what they were made for! Cheers Steve
