    BaT Description:

This 1972 Porsche 911T was sold new to a doctor in Allensville, Pennsylvania at Montgomery Porsche-Audi on April 22, 1972. He relocated the car to Monterey, California in 1977 after being transferred to a different hospital. Following 43 years of original ownership, the car was purchased by the selling dealer in 2015, who has since added 3,500 miles driving around the Portland, Oregon area. The matching-numbers 2.4-liter flat-six is paired to the original 915 5-speed transaxle and recently received a full service, which included a new clutch. This 911 is now being offered with its original California blue plates, a complete tool kit, the original owner’s manuals, stamped maintenance booklet, Porsche CoA, records dating back to the mid 1990s, and a clean California title.

The body has been repainted once in the original Aubergine (025) color, and the finish exhibits normal wear from age and use along a few noted blemishes on the front spoiler. 1972 was the only year that the 911 featured an external oil filler door, which can be seen on the passenger-side rear fender in the image above. 14″ Fuchs wheels were included as part of the optional Comfort Equipment package on this car. They are fitted with Grenlander L-Grip16 tires that have a DOT code from February 2016.

Inside, the black interior was refurbished in 2002 with new upholstery and a correct salt and pepper carpet kit. An aftermarket Blaupunkt cassette radio was added at some point by the original owner. The VDO instrument cluster is said to function properly. The dash was replaced many years ago and now features a non-removable speaker grill. Cracks emanate from the front and back of the speaker. 13,213 miles shown on the odometer, which has rolled at least once.

The original 2.4-liter flat-six is mated to a 915 5-speed manual transaxle and features the factory Bosch mechanical fuel injection found on all US models. This system along with a displacement increase resulted in a factory rating of 140 horsepower, nine more than the carbureted RoW examples. Recent maintenance included a new clutch, and the car also received a full service in preparation for sale. Stamping #6120319 can be seen and confirms the engine as original. Transmission stamping #7321158 has been provided in the gallery and also confirms the originality of that unit. After purchasing the car out of California in 2015, it was driven to Portland, Oregon without stopping and was said to run strong with no issues. Currently, the engine is reported to seep a small amount of oil.

A Porsche Certificate of Authenticity shows a build date of September 1971 and verifies the serial numbers. The original owner’s manuals are included along with the maintenance booklet containing service record stamps from Montgomery Porsche and Bob Paul Auto Repair in Salinas, California. The stamps document work performed through May 1993. A large collection of receipts and invoices confirms maintenance history back to the mid 1990s, and a complete tool kit also comes with the car.

Even better price now ... $53,9 ... looks like a nice car
This is a great deal. Seller is tired of dealing with indecisive buyers, wannabes, flippers, and guys who let their wife manage their nuts.

Wants it sold now; hence the price drop.

I don’t know about Phoenix but around here CL brings out the bottom feeders.
A BAT listing might provide a audience.

    BaT Description:

his 1972 Porsche 911T Coupe is powered by its numbers-matching 2.4-liter flat-six, which is mated to a type 915 5-speed manual transaxle. Finished in black over a tan interior, the car is equipped with Recaro front seats, Weber carburetors, E-camshafts, oil-fed timing chain tensioners, 930 front brake calipers, and uprated sway bars. The seller drives this garage-kept coupe weekly, having added about 4,000 miles since he acquired it five years ago. Services completed four months ago included valve and carburetor adjustments, as well as an engine oil change with Swepco 20w50. This 911T is now being offered with original warranty folder, a 1994-2004 maintenance log book detailed below, photos documenting an earlier repaint, and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.

The black exterior is described as a high-quality repaint commissioned by a prior owner in 1994. This work is documented in accompanying photos and a maintenance log. Images reportedly show the original color was Sepia Brown, and that the hood was de-badged at the same time. Note the external oil filler door under the passenger-side rear quarter window, a 1972-only feature. Smaller aftermarket side mirrors have been fitted, and the original mirrors are no longer with the car. 15″ Fuchs-style wheels wear newer General Altimax RT43 tires all around.

Non-original Recaro cloth bucket seats are said to be comfortable and have a couple of small worn spots. The original seats are not included in the sale. The door panels, dash, and carpets are all believed to be original and said to be in good shape. Gauges have been rotated for easier reading during spirited driving and can been rotated back to vertical according to the seller. The 5-digit odometer shows just under 43k miles and is believed to have rolled over once. A Sony 35Wx4 AM/FM/CD stereo head unit with removable faceplate has been installed.

This original warranty booklet displays the chassis and engine numbers. The VIN indicates a car constructed in 1971 and decodes to provide these additional details:
    911 – Type 911
    2 – 1972 Model year
    10 – 911 T/E Coupé, for US market
2110 – Production sequence number within 2,931 built

Engine stamping *6123261* matches the warranty voucher above, confirming the 2,341cc flat-six is the original unit. This engine was rated at 140 hp when new, and is said to start easily and run well with no smoke. A front oil cooler and newer battery have been added. Prior modifications include Weber carbs, E-camshafts, and oil-fed timing chain tensioners, all reportedly verified by Chuck Miller at Millersport in Hillsborough, North Carolina, who has also performed all maintenance for the last five years.

A group of photos show underside condition, which the seller notes incudes light surface corrosion on the exhaust system. A prior owner added 930 front brake calipers at 114k miles, and a clutch assembly at 119k miles. Updated sway bars are 21mm in front and 27mm at the rear. Included photos document the color-change repaint, and a prior owner’s maintenance logbook includes the following:
    - 58 detailed entries
    -June 1994
    - Car purchased for $11,000 at 111k miles
    - Repaint in black
    - April 1997 – Services with engine and transmission out of the car
    - October 2015 – Last service entry
