    FS: 1972 Porsche 911T MFI

We have for sale a very original “blue plate” 1972 Porsche 911T in Silver Metallic with black leatherette interior. Original equipment per the Certificate of Authenticity includes; US equipment, light metal wheels, antenna left w/loudspeaker and noise suppression, comfort equipment for 911T, tinted glass all around, and Dunlop tires. This is our third time selling this excellent ‘survivor’ quality car.
1972 was a year of firsts for Porsche, it was the first year of the 2.4l engine as well as the 915 transmission with no dog-leg first gear. It was also the first and last year of the infamous oil filler door on the passenger side rear fender and the only year the T was built with Mechanical Fuel Injection for the US market (ROW were carbureted)
Not much is known about the original owner but the second owner, George Bulloch purchased the car in San Jose, California in 1991. The bulk of paperwork included with the car is from George’s 22-year tenure. He enjoyed putting miles on the car and eventually had the engine rebuilt at 108,550 miles in 1992 by a specialist in Scotts Valley, CA. Hoping to gain horsepower, George had the MFI system recalibrated to “E” spec and had “S” pistons installed during the rebuild. At the same time, George had the 915 transmission rebuilt by Jerry Woods in Campbell, CA. From then on, George had the car religiously serviced, replacing anything it needed. George enjoyed the car for more than two decades before selling it to its next caretaker, Rolando Saldana in 2013. Rolando is an active Porsche enthusiast and used the car in various rallies and Concours shows up and down the California coast. Rolando drove the car for many years and then sold it to the current owner, a local Laguna Beach resident in 2018.
Over the years the car was really well taken care of. However, being a silver metallic car (Silver Metallic was known for its troublesome clear coats) it was professionally repainted sometime during stewardship and shows extremely well with the correct silver metallic paint. The car is in extremely good condition and runs strong. Everything works and the interior has a really nice patina. The only thing the car needed was a new set of seats (which we had Autos International completely reupholster, including new springs etc.) as the original springs had started to fail. Upon purchase, we will perform a service on the car. Purchase will also include, original tool kit/jack, full-size Fuchs spare, owners manual, Certificate of Authenticity, and a thick binder filled with maintenance history, engine/transmission rebuild, etc. It’s not often you get to sell the same car 3 times, which really speaks to the quality of this one. Nice, original, drivers quality cars are hard to come by, especially clean “blue plate’ Californian cars like this one.

    Asking $108,000 obo.

    Seller's Description:

A great driving, numbers correct car with no known rust issues. I've owned the car since 2009 and have put about 18,000 miles on it. The previous owner changed the color from Burgundy to Amazon Green Metallic, replaced the original carbs with Webers, performed an interior and Targa top reconditioning, and claimed to have perform an engine refresh. The car includes the original 2.2 liter engine, 901 transmission, and 14" Fuch wheels.

    Work I've had performed includes:

    · new fuel tank (last year)
    · carb rebuild (last year)
    · new SSI heat exchangers (last year)
    · new tires (about 2 years ago)
    · complete windows-out respray (about 7 years ago)
    · Coco mats (about 8 years ago)
    · K&N air cleaner kit with rain shield tops (about 8 years ago)
    · Carrera chain tensioners (when I first purchased the car)
    · turbo tie rods (when I first purchased the car)
    · Bilstein shocks (when I first purchased the car)

The car is not perfect, but is garage kept and has been cared for. I do have some paperwork and receipts, but not a lot. A pre-purchase inspection is welcomed and expected (at your expense, of course.) R2 Racing in Canyon Country, CA is my current mechanic and is familiar with the car. Earlier work was performed by TRE Motorsports in Van Nuys, CA.

    Known issues include:

    · Yes, it does have a few oil leaks, mostly around the valve covers.
    · The glove box lock/latch is broken, so it won't open.
    · The passenger seat folding mechanism needs repair.
    · The front hood struts need to be replaced.
    · The Fuchs could use refurbishment.

    Auction Description:

    - Originally Finished in Gold Metallic and Delivered to Southern California
    - Retains Matching-Numbers Engine per Porsche Factory Records
    - 1980s Custom Paint Job and Weber Carburetor Conversion
    - Offered with Owner’s Manual, Maintenance Book, and Tool Kit
    - Perfect Candidate for Show-Quality Restoration or Outlaw Build

The 2.4-liter 911 T presented here was originally finished in the rare color of Gold Metallic (Code 140-9-3) and retailed through Mesa Porsche-Audi of La Mesa, California. Soon after acquiring his new 911 in May 1972, the first owner, M.W. Edwards of San Diego, relocated to Florida. As documented in its original maintenance booklet, the 911 continued to be serviced by the Pensacola-area dealer, Bill Campbell Porsche, through 1975.

Some time in the late 1970s or early 1980s, the 911 T returned to California and resided in the Monterey Bay area until its recent purchase by the consignor. About 35 years ago, the Porsche was repainted orange, updated with black exterior trim, and converted to Weber carburetors. The car’s interior appears to be largely original and the odometer displayed 51,486 miles at the time of cataloguing. The consignor believes the Porsche was parked approximately 30 years ago, and the most recent California registration sticker dates from 1991. Significantly, factory records confirm that this 911 T retains its matching-numbers engine, and the sale includes the original owner’s manual, stamped service/warranty booklet, accessory pamphlets, and tool kit.

Offered in as-found condition, this 2.4 T appears to be an ideal candidate for restoration, either to as-delivered show quality condition or as a basis for an R Gruppe-style hot rod. Whatever its future holds, this charismatic garage-find 911 offers endless possibilities for its next caretaker.

*Please note that this vehicle has been in long-term static storage and may not be currently operational. It will require mechanical attention prior to road use.

This 71T Targa has been listed over at the Bird for a few weeks now. Seller is very slow in responding. Looks like a decent car though, if you don't mind the color change.

    1973 Porsche 911T Leaf Green 10.jpg

    Auction Description:

    - Finished in the Rare and Desirable Special-Order Color of Leaf Green
    - Remains Highly Original and Well Preserved; One Owner from 1973–2011
    - Matching-Numbers Engine Per Its Porsche COA
    - The Final Long-Hood 911; 1973.5 Model with CIS Injection
    - Accompanied by Books, Tools, Jack, Tire Pump, and Porsche COA

This highly original 1973 911 T is an outstanding example finished in the rare and very attractive special-order color of Leaf Green. The 911 was purchased new at Gardner Motors in Bernardsville, New Jersey. Its original owner kept it for 38 years until 2011. The current owner, a discriminating and enthusiastic collector of Porsches, acquired the car in 2015.

According to a report on file and available for review by noted Porsche expert Cole Scrogham, the Porsche is still matched to its original engine, and is a very rare original paint vehicle. Mr. Scrogham based his opinion on paint meter readings and by noting the characteristics of the paint and body common to the era. His report also notes the interior’s original condition, with the exception of the front seats, which were reupholstered in proper period leatherette. Further emphasizing the car’s originality, the report notes that it even retains its original door-mounted ID label, an item that is often chipped away or removed altogether during a repaint.

The consignor had the Porsche serviced by Mr. Scrogham in 2015, and in 2017 had new Pirelli CN36 tires installed and a full paint correction and ceramic coating completed. Commensurate with its original condition, the Porsche retains its original tools, jack, Webster tire pump, and its original manuals and odometer statement. With under 75,000 miles on the odometer at the time of cataloguing and featuring the updated CIS injection system brought in mid-1973, this is an exceptional 911 2.4 T and a rare find in such original condition.
