    PCAR Market Description:

Now available is this 1973 Porsche 911 T Coupe presented in Dark Blue Metallic over a black RS-style interior. Having undergone a total custom restoration under the current ownership, this fuel-injected 1973 example has been completely refinished and modified with RS body styling as well as some tasteful performance upgrades. Highlighting a number’s matching drivetrain, this 911 T is now being offered by its seller in New Mexico accompanied by a comprehensive collection of records as well as a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

Under the current ownership, this 911 was completely refinished in the dark metallic Audi color of Aruba Blau (LX5V). Wurth Stoneguard Grey underbody sealant was also applied to the floor pans during this time. The paint is said to remain in exceptional condition with the front hood and roof recently refinished to maintain a pristine appearance. Customizations include a fiberglass RS-style Ducktail rear decklid, an RS-style rear bumper, and a 911S-type front bumper. New H4 headlights assemblies have also been installed along with a passenger side-view mirror. This 911 rides on genuine Fuchs wheels which have been completely refurbished by restoration expert Harvey Weidman. These 7”x15” wheels come dressed in healthy Yokohama tires.

The black interior has been redone with RS-style door panels and carpeting. The front seat cushions were improved, the headliner was replaced, and the tachometer was professionally rebuilt. New instrument bezels were also installed along with a Moto-Lita steering wheel, Coco floormats, and a felt trunk liner. An original Blaupunkt radio remains in place and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.

The U.S. market example features an air-cooled 2.4 L flat-six engine which was equipped with Bosch CIS fuel injection for the 1973 model year. Approximately 140 HP stock is sent to the rear wheels by way of a number’s matching 5-speed manual gearbox. This 911 has been upgraded with brand-new SSI heat exchangers, an RSR-style Dansk exhaust, PerTronix electronic ignition, and Carrera-style chain tensioners.

The seller indicates that the engine was overhauled during the 1980s at 95,042 miles. More recent maintenance items include valve adjustments, a new ignition coil, 2 new engine valve covers, new tie rod ends and steering rack boots, new batteries, and a full oil service. This 911 T is noted to be in fantastic running order with a collection of service records showing proper maintenance.

This sale will include a set of 2 keys, owner’s books, records, a new jack and toolkit, two sun visors, a clean title, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. Offering RS styling and a traditional air-cooled driving experience, this tastefully customized 911 T is not to be missed.

    Dealer Description:

CPR Classic is delighted to offer this charming 1972 Porsche 911T Targa finished in its correct factory color combination of Tangerine over a black leatherette interior. This example is in highly preserved condition throughout retaining all original metal and partial original paint.

This 911 T is all numbers matching, including color combination, engine, gearbox, and options.

The odometer shows 53,000 miles, which we believe is the car's actual original mileage. This 911T's most recent owner purchased the car in the early 1990s and drove the car about 10,000 miles over the following 30 years in fair weather to ensure the car remained in a lovely preserved condition during his ownership.

The car's paint measures as near all original. Every panel on the vehicle reads between 3.5-7 millimeters except for a small area on the driver side rear quarter panel where there is evidence of a small blend, with the paint measuring as thick as 9 millimeters in that area.

Upon arrival at CPR, this Targa underwent a complete bumper-to-bumper inspection, during which we addressed a few small items we found that needed attention. The car also received a full service, including all fluids, an MFI tune, and fresh batteries.

Porsche factory Tangerine is one of the most desirable colors to be found on an early 911, and this example being a 1972 model makes it all the more desirable. If you are in the market for a highly preserved, turn-key long-hood 911 Targa, this is a must-see and must drive example.

Hmm. Maybe they need to learn how to read the meter? Paint that is 9mm thick? Almost ⅜"?

I think what they are saying (or poorly saying) is 3.5 to 3.7 and 3.9 on the rear quarter panel.
You physically cannot lay paint 9mm thick.
    Hope Im right

You guys seem to always find something wrong with it. My only complaint is the price in the middle of a pandemic. If it gets worse, this winter; then all prices are off.

Our web copy is written by our salespeople but added to the site by our website guy, so occasionally things like mils get turned into millimeters rather than what a mil is- which is one thousandth of an inch.

So the paint is 9mils, i.e. 0.009 thick. If it was 9mm, it'd be... interesting. 9mm is about 0.354" and typically two coats of Glasurit paint works out to 0.0022-0.0030", so that'd be the equivalent of more than 200 coats of paint.

    BaT Description:

This 1973 Porsche 911T was purchased new by Clifford M. Holm, a US Navy pilot, from Wester Porsche/Audi of Monterey, California, on October 1, 1973. The car is said to have remained in storage in Colorado from the mid-1980s through 2015 when it was inherited by the original owner’s brother. It spent time in Florida from April 2016 until it was acquired by the selling dealer in 2020. The car is finished in Bahia Red over a black leatherette interior, and power comes from a numbers-matching 2.4L flat-six paired with a Type 915 five-speed manual transaxle. Features include front and rear stabilizer bars, the appearance group, and a retractable antenna. A Porsche Classic Technical Certificate inspection was performed by Porsche of North Houston, Texas, in 2020, and new tires were mounted in preparation for the sale. This 911T shows 26k miles and is now offered in Texas with a window sticker, factory books, a tool kit and jack, registration records and a hand-written mileage log kept by the original owner, service records from 1973 to the present, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a Porsche Classic Technical Certificate, and a clean Florida title.

The body is finished in Bahia Red (13) and features black horn grilles, a driver-side mirror, and a Hirschmann retractable antenna with an included matching key. Paint meter readings, glass etchings, and window decals can be seen in the gallery. Polished 15″ Fuchs wheels feature black insets and are mounted with 185/70 Pirelli Cinturato CN36 tires that were installed in November 2020. A matching spare wheel is mounted in the front trunk, and 11/72 date codes can be seen on all five wheels in the gallery. Front and rear stabilizer bars were optioned from the factory. New front brake pads and rotors were installed by Elite Motor Works of Sarasota, Florida, in May 2017, and the calipers were rebuilt at that time.

The seats are trimmed in black leatherette with matching carpets and floor mats as well as a white headliner. A dashboard speaker is fitted, but the car is not equipped with a radio. The leatherette-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel frames a central tachometer with a 6,300-rpm redline, a 150-mph speedometer, gauges for fuel level, oil level, oil temperature, and oil pressure, and a clock. Just over 26k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer.

The 2.4-liter 911/91 flat-six features Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and produced 140 horsepower when new. A new pop-off valve and batteries were installed in 2017, and a Porsche Classic Technical Certificate inspection was performed in September 2020. Results from a recent compression test showing between 120 and 130 psi across all six cylinders can be seen in the gallery. Engine stamping *6135564* matches the engine number listed on the Classic Technical Certificate and CoA that can be seen in the gallery. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a numbers-matching Type 915 five-speed manual transaxle. Photos of underside factory markings can be seen in the gallery.

The included window sticker shows delivery to Wester Porsche/Audi and lists optional equipment as well as a total price of $8,953.50. The included books, keys, and tools can be seen up close in the gallery, along with service records dating back to 1973, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a Porsche Classic Technical Certificate, and a handwritten mileage log from the original owner.

This BaT 73T was a super nice car. Should have gone for more than $156k IMHO. Would be so fun to have an "original" car and pour over all the details.

    Auction Description:

Up for auction is this 1971 Porsche 911T presented in Light Yellow over a black leatherette interior. This example is reported to have been purchased by the seller from its original owner in 2009 before it was sold to another individual and then purchased back by the seller after 10 years in 2019. Under its original ownership, this 911T underwent a full engine rebuild with upgrades including a Carrera chain tensioner, 911S pistons, and Weber carburetors. Reported to have a number’s matching drivetrain and documentation dating back to the original purchase, this 1971 example is now being offered by its seller in Alabama with approximately 115k miles showing on the odometer.

This 911 is said to have been previously refinished in its factory special order color of Light Yellow. The paint is said to be in great overall condition, free of any noteworthy imperfections (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery). Fog lights are listed on the original purchase order along with the “Appearance Group” which includes 911 S-type trim including gold rear lettering, extended rocker panels, and protective rubber moldings over the bumperettes. This example also rides on rare optional Mahle “Gas Burner” 5-lug wheels with a matching full-size spare located in the trunk.

nside, the black leatherette interior is said to be in very good condition. Air conditioning was equipped by the original dealer and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be working properly including the Blaupunkt “Denver” radio. The 5-digit odometer currently reads just over 15k miles and the seller reports the total mileage to be approximately 115k miles.

This 911T is equipped with its original 2.2 L flat-six engine paired with a factory optional 5-speed manual gearbox. The engine is said to have been fully rebuilt during the 1990s and fitted with a Carrera chain tensioner kit, 911S pistons, and Weber carburetors. The transmission, braking, and air conditioning systems are also said to have been overhauled during this time. Other upgrades include stainless steel brake lines, SSI heat exchangers, and an updated clutch arm. Service records are included dating back to the original purchase and this 911T is said to be in fantastic running order.

This sale will include 1 master key, a clean title, service records, and the original books, tools, spare tire, and purchase order. With all the right upgrades and factory options, this well maintained 1971 example makes the perfect 911 for any aspiring vintage Porsche owner.
