BaT Description:
This Porsche 911T Targa is finished in orange over black and is powered by a 2.4-liter flat-six paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes CIS fuel injection, a removable black targa panel, polished 15″ Fuchs wheels, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo with recording capability and a microphone. The car was reportedly sold new in Honolulu, spent time in California, and then returned to Hawaii, where it was acquired by the seller in 2019. A refurbishment is said to have been carried out in the 2010s, and service since the seller’s acquisition reportedly included rebuilding the brake calipers and replacing the brake hoses, pads, and rotors. This 911T Targa shows 93k miles and is now offered with factory literature and a clean Hawaii title in the seller’s name.
Its build tag notes the car being Tangerine Orange, and the seller states that the exterior was repainted after his acquisition. Features include a black roof panel, a stainless steel targa bar, chrome headlight surrounds, and black bumperettes front and rear. The seller notes signs of metal refurbishing work, and there is a patch in the floor under the rear seat. Door dings are present and depicted in the gallery.
Fuchs 15″ wheels show January 1973 manufacture dates and wear 185/65 Pirelli P4 tires. A matching spare wheel with a 2020 date-coded Uniroyal tire is mounted in the trunk. Braking is handled by four-wheel ventilated discs. The seller states that service since 2019 includes rebuilding the brake calipers and replacing the hoses, pads, and rotors.
The cabin is upholstered in black vinyl with matching trim and replacement carpets. Equipment includes an analog clock, a locking glove box, and a Blaupunkt cassette recorder with a microphone. The seller notes that the tape deck requires finesse to operate. There is a repair on the left side of the driver seat backrest and a crack in the dash pad.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a suite of VDO instrumentation that includes a 150-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,250-rpm redline, and fuel level, oil level, oil temperature, and oil pressure gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 93k miles, 3k of which were added by the seller.
The 2.4-liter 911/91 flat-six features Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and produced 140 horsepower when new. Service in June 2021 reportedly included changing the oil and replacing the spark plugs, plug wires, and fuel injectors. The seller notes that the engine idles high until settling into its proper range and that there is no washer bottle or pump.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 915 five-speed manual transaxle. The seller notes that the gas tank has been replaced and that the exhaust is showing age. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery. Manufacturer’s literature is included in the sale.
