It may be hideous, but it brought $93k (+ buyer's fee).

This and other recent results prompted me to raise my insurance value...

Looks like a nice, unmolested example. Nothing fancy, but a good color. Price seems a bit optimistic even by today's standards.

    BaT Auction Description:

This 1973.5 Porsche 911T is a nice longhood example that has been driven around 1,000 miles since purchased by the seller in 2013. The coupe is powered by its original 2.4 liter flat-six with CIS fuel injection paired to a non-matching 915/12 5-speed transmission. The car was a well-sorted driver when the seller bought it, and is said to be mechanically sound with routine oil and fluid changes being the only maintenance performed under current ownership. An older India Red repaint is in good shape, and other cosmetic enhancements include Euro headlights, rally-style fogs, and refurbished 15″ Fuchs. The seller enjoys driving the car, but is paring down his collection to focus on new projects. The car is being offered with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

The seller notes that the CoA and door tag indicate the car was originally Silver Metallic, and that the previous owner performed the repaint in India Red. The paint was applied well, though a few slivers of silver paint can be seen in the driver’s door jamb and under the trunk. The seller did not touch up these areas in case the new buyer desires to return the car to its original color and needs a color-matching reference. The finish appears glossy and is in good driver condition with a few imperfections. The most notable flaws are a thin 8″ scratch on the driver-side front fender and a small crease near one of the jacking points. The seller can include a set of “S” rocker moldings if the new buyer wishes to cover up the jacking point area. The body is straight with no signs of significant corrosion, though a small patch panel under the passenger seat can be seen and was likely performed during the repaint.

The headlights were upgraded to H4 European lights with a relay kit to avoid damage to the wiring harness, and a set of through-the-grille rally-style fog lamps have been installed. All of the lights and indicators work as they should and the car recently passed a Texas safety inspection with no issues. Exterior rubber and weatherstripping are in good condition with no cracking or major UV damage. The stainless steel trim on the bumpers, side strips, and window surrounds are straight aside from a small dent on the passenger window frame. The suspension is said to work well and offer responsive handling. There is minimal wear reported on the bushings and the shocks are functioning normally. The setup is in stock formation apart from upgraded sway bars, with an adjustable GPR bar up front and an OEM 18mm bar from a ’74 911S in the rear.

The 15″ black and silver Fuchs alloys are date-coded to 1973 and were restored by Alex Margo in Florida with new OEM center caps. The wheels are in nice shape with no curbing or scratches, and wear new Yokohama YK580 tires that measure 195/65/15. A black 15″ Mahle Gas Burner spare wheel can be seen in the front trunk and is fitted to a Michelin XZX tire. The black interior looks sharp with presentable surfaces that are either refurbished or well-cared for. No cracks exist on the dash, and the remaining plastics are in similar good condition. The white headliner has no rips or tears, and the carpets appear clean and taut. The black leatherette upholstery on the factory Recaro sport bucket seats show little wear, with a few small scuffs near the intersection of the driver’s side bolsters. The original dealer installed A/C system is intact and complete. The fan works correctly, but the system is said to not blow cold. All of the gauges are fully functional, although the tach is reported to be a little wobbly. The original head unit has been replaced with a later model Blaupunkt cassette unit that is currently not working. The 62k indicated miles are not believed accurate.

The 2.4 liter flat-six features Bosch K-Jetronic continuous fuel injection (CIS) and is described as starting readily and running strong after warming up. The engine has been updated with hydraulic chain tensioners. The CoA shows the engine number matches the vehicle, though the 5-speed transmission is a non-matching but correct 1973 date-coded 915 unit. The engine looks clean inside the tidy engine bay and has been routinely serviced with new oil and fluid changes by the current owner, most recently in July of this year. The transmission was resealed earlier this summer, though the seller reports that on a recent drive the 4th gear did not engage as well as it should. He is unsure of the source of the problem as the synchros were said to be in good shape when the gearbox was taken apart for the reseal. Furthermore, he notices that after parking for several days a small spot of oil can be seen on the ground. The engine #6135583 can be seen above and matches the number listed on the Porsche CoA.

The undercarriage is clean and dry with no significant corrosion present, and rust is said to be minimal throughout the car. A photo from underhood shows some bubbling where the brake fluid has eaten away some of the red paint, exposing the original silver paint underneath. Some surface corrosion under a hose in the front trunk is also detailed in the image gallery, and is said to have not rusted through. As result of several conversations and a visual inspection, the seller reports that the previous owner took very good care of the vehicle. A Porsche CoA has been provided and shows the matching engine number, original colors, and optional equipment.
    Again for sale, asking $79,980

This, very early, left-hand drive, 1969 911 2.2-litre 'T' was initially delivered to California and appears to be in lovely condition, both inside and out. It's classically presented in Silver Metallic with polished Fuchs 5-blade alloys and the indicated mileage is around 56,000 which Richard believes could well be genuine, given the car's original condition.

Early 911s possess a certain purity of line, particularly in bright colours, a complete world away from the aerodynamic extravagances of the eighties and nineties, and in terms of style, it's the early cars that engender the most appreciative glances. A well set-up and maintained 911T,even with only 125bhp, when driven with an intelligent right foot will provide some of the most quintessentially rewarding driving experiences you have ever had, and will leave you with a serious grin on your face!

    Seller's ad:
I bought this car about 10 years ago from a local Porsche enthusiast as an unfinished project. It was Sephia Brown in color. I decided the brown color wasn't for me, so I had it redone in Tangerine. It was a total windows out color change with no signs of brown anywhere. The paint job would probably rate an 8 out of 10. It is aging from years of storage.

There was a panel at the base of the rear windshield that needed replacement due to rust. The welds were drilled out and the old panel was removed, The replacement panel was sourced from Stoddard's, and properly and professionally welded back in place. That was the only rust that needed addressed. Apparently the rear window had leaked for a while unnoticed.

The engine was freshened and resealed by an independent Porsche specialist in Indiana in around 2012. The car has about 10 miles on it since. It has been sitting in my garage for around 9 years. I do start it up several times a year and let it run up to temperature before covering it back up. The original MFI is still on the engine and functional. The engine is original to the car.

The transmission is from a 1974 911S and was freshened up by a Porsche specialist in Corry, Pa. The original transmission was stolen from me years ago and is not available.

The wheels are 15” Fuchs, They are polished and have new tires with 10 miles on them.

The seats coverings are really nice ,but the foam is pretty tired.

The door panels have been replaced with RS style flat panels, and original arm rests are still used.

    No radio or speakers.

Typical minor cracks on the dash near the speaker grill but generally in pretty nice shape.

    New carpets.

Title in hand and in my name.

It has not been driven on the street since assembly years ago. Assume there will be some tuning and troubleshooting needed.

    Auction Description:

Up for auction is this 1971 Porsche 911T presented in Light Yellow over a black leatherette interior. This example is reported to have been purchased by the seller from its original owner in 2009 before it was sold to another individual and then purchased back by the seller after 10 years in 2019. Under its original ownership, this 911T underwent a full engine rebuild with upgrades including a Carrera chain tensioner, 911S pistons, and Weber carburetors. Reported to have a number’s matching drivetrain and documentation dating back to the original purchase, this 1971 example is now being offered by its seller in Alabama with approximately 115k miles showing on the odometer.

This 911 is said to have been previously refinished in its factory special order color of Light Yellow. The paint is said to be in great overall condition, free of any noteworthy imperfections (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery). Fog lights are listed on the original purchase order along with the “Appearance Group” which includes 911 S-type trim including gold rear lettering, extended rocker panels, and protective rubber moldings over the bumperettes. This example also rides on rare optional Mahle “Gas Burner” 5-lug wheels with a matching full-size spare located in the trunk.

nside, the black leatherette interior is said to be in very good condition. Air conditioning was equipped by the original dealer and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be working properly including the Blaupunkt “Denver” radio. The 5-digit odometer currently reads just over 15k miles and the seller reports the total mileage to be approximately 115k miles.

This 911T is equipped with its original 2.2 L flat-six engine paired with a factory optional 5-speed manual gearbox. The engine is said to have been fully rebuilt during the 1990s and fitted with a Carrera chain tensioner kit, 911S pistons, and Weber carburetors. The transmission, braking, and air conditioning systems are also said to have been overhauled during this time. Other upgrades include stainless steel brake lines, SSI heat exchangers, and an updated clutch arm. Service records are included dating back to the original purchase and this 911T is said to be in fantastic running order.

This sale will include 1 master key, a clean title, service records, and the original books, tools, spare tire, and purchase order. With all the right upgrades and factory options, this well maintained 1971 example makes the perfect 911 for any aspiring vintage Porsche owner.
