    Seller’s Description:
1972 Porsche 911T Coupe with numbers-matching engine and factory air conditioning. Garaged California car with solid original floors, rare color combination. The air conditioning system is complete and listed on the Certificate of Authenticity (needs to be charged and checked, does not blow cold). Stored many years and not driven, recently brought back to running condition (tank cleaned, seals replaced, new tires, brakes done, etc). The seats and carpet are all original and in excellent condition, which seems to indicate the miles on the odometer could be original, 65563. One repaint since new, paint is 20 years old and shows patina but presents well. Runs and drives well. View all pictures here: https://goo.gl/photos/4hxrVGWNMJx2y1g17

That car must have been involved in a front-end accident. I've never seen a front identification plate so damaged and wrinkled.

    FS: @Barrett-Jackson - 1971 911T Targa

This car definitely has some history to it . . . I'm sure the seller and BJ are pleased it sold since it did not at a BJ auction last year.

If the previous owner who spent $$ for these modifications had spent the same $$ to restore to original, what would be the difference in the 'Sold for' price?

    73T 3-1.jpg

    Auction Description:

This U.S. version is finished in the desirable color combination of Silver Metallic with black interior. It's equipped with the Bosch fuel-injection system which replaced the mechanical fuel-injection system. This unit is derived from the racing success of the Porsche 908 endurance race car. Handling in the 911 series was constantly being refined and improved. The 1973 model benefited from the relocation of the oil tank to placement inside the wheelbase and ahead of the right rear wheel which led to better handling and distribution. This 911T has been cosmetically modified with the addition of front and rear wide-body fender flares, aero front spoiler, whale-tail trunk lid spoiler and 18" alloy wheels with low-profile tires. This Porsche is fun to drive.

He killed the value of his car. Then again it may not matter to him. A nicely done #3 car might have brought $80,000. A #2 car would have certainly brought $80,000.

A lot of people say "It's my car and I can do anything I want with it." Including losing half the value of the car. After they put $40,000 into it. I don't have a problem with that. There are a lot of early long hood cars around.

    Backdate or Update

Back in the days after the mid-year '74-'77 cars were built one could buy a new custom fiberglass "Tony Lapine" style bumper and center refector for their pre-'73 911. Update vs. backdate. Check an old Pano from the era into the early 80's.

Looks like a half decent car judging by the photos but depending on the auction estimate/reserve. No engine/chassis photos. Although the carpet it 'new', its not the correct color/finish.

If you are selling an early 911 through Mecum, believe me it has issues! Does it say it comes with an engine?
