Wow. I know of a restored 73 Gemini S coupe for a heck of a lot less than that...

it does look good except for the orange engine shroud, the passenger door not matching and the radio faceplate being... off.

The dash radio grill and hood badge look awful. Why do all that work underneath and put the oil drain plate back on without refinishing or replacing?

    Auction Description:

This stunning, recently restored example of a rare 1969 911T with fully working Sportomatic transmission is presented in its original colour scheme of red with red interior. Imported from the USA by the current owner in 2013, the car has undergone a full restoration over the last four years with work undertaken by Porsche Specialists Nine Excellence, together with Porsche Approved Body Shop.

Imported from the USA by the owner in October 2013 this matching number 1969 911 Touring with Sportomatic transmission has undergone a full restoration over the last four years. The work has been conducted by Porsche Specialist Nine Excellence together with Porsche Approved Body Shop. The car has been restored completely whilst retaining original parts. The bodywork has been painted in the original colour, the car had a complete new underside fitted by Porsche Approved Body Shop. The interior has been fully re-trimmed retaining original parts where appropriate. The engine has been restored, with original carburettors rebuilt and the transmission has been overhauled and works perfectly. The rest of the mechanics have been overhauled including the shocks, brakes etc.

The semi-automatic transmission known as Sportomatic had a conventional synchromesh gearbox along with a torque converter and a normal clutch which was controlled by a vacuum controlled lever. Shifting gears without a clutch pedal to press resulted in very smooth changes and a more relaxed drive when compared to its manual siblings. Over the decades many of these transmissions were converted to manual transmission which means there are very few left that work as well as this one does.

With a recorded 41,847 miles and extensive history folder including COA and original parts, this is an excellent opportunity to purchase what we considered to be one of the best available examples. Everything on the car is matching numbers and whilst there is no need for a MoT due to its age, the car has passed with no advisories.

    Seller's Description:

1970 Porsche 911T with "S" Trim package. This stock rust free California blue plate car has always been a Southern California car. It has four deep 6" Fuchs alloy wheels. I have owned the car since 1996 and have professionally maintained it all of those years. It has always been garaged. The body gaps are nice and there is no evidence of any body damage or accidents. The doors "Ping" when you close them. The car is painted in the original burgundy color (color code is 2424). The pan is original except for a high-quality replacement of the front suspension pan section that was done prior to my ownership. This is a very solid incredible running car that can be enjoyed on mountain road on any given Sunday.

    Dealer Description:

Don't miss out on a once in a lifetime opportunity. This barn find, 1969 Porsche 911T coupe, represents the first, and best run of Porsche's iconic project, the 901/911. Magical in it's simplicity and styling, this car is truly amazing. Found, and then subsequently purchased by a collector out of an airplane hangar in central Idaho, the car was then returned to us here at MAXRPM Motorsports to begin the resurrection of it's lifetime. Initially used as a run around vehicle for the original owner, the car showed the typical wear and tear associated with nearly fifty years of life on this planet and that of similar vehicles of it's era. As it turns out it had great bones, and thus qualified for a thorough restoration. And so it began. The car was relieved of its coating of dust and cobwebs, and soon it's engine, transmission and interior. The car ran and drove nicely when it was purchased from the previous owner, but underwent a complete and total tear-down and reseal none the less. Each and every part of the 2.0 liter engine has been inspected and or replaced, and brought up to date, all the while retaining the original carburated set up. Everything mechanical that needed attention has been attended to. Full "cases apart" engine rebuild to include all seals and gaskets, new head studs with upgraded time-certs, new piston rings, rod and piston pin bearings, main bearings, completely gone through transmission, complete and total carburetor rebuild and powder coated intake air induction components. The aluminum parts of the engine have even been "cosmoline" treated as they were when the vehicle was built and shipped to the U.S. Full suspension replacement including all bushings, shocks and struts, with all metal parts powder-coated to prevent any future rust problems. Complete refurbishing of the original instruments was also performed by Palo Alto speedometer in California. (they look and operate like new). Freshened up in the interior with new dash pad , seat covers, carpets and trunk liner. The wheels have been re-trued and then re-chromed to like new with new tires installed. It is hard to describe everything that has gone into this restoration without starting to chuckle. And, after all has been said and done, the car is as new as an original fully restored Porsche 911 can be. It's an air-cooled wonder that will surely put a smile on anyones face.
