    Auction Description:

This left-hand drive 1970 Porsche 911 2.2 T Coupe was originally supplied new from the Porsche Centre New York in 1970. There is a US title document showing the previous keeper had owned the car from the late 1970s. We understand that the car was restored in California and it certainly presents really well with a very clean, nicely detailed engine bay and bright paintwork. The Porsche Certificate confirms that it is matching numbers and the original colour and year of production. The current owner travelled to California to purchase the car personally from the Beverley Hills Car Club and then imported it into the UK. It's now UK registered with a current V5C and fresh MoT showing no advisories. Finished in desirable Burgundy Red (Brunrot ?) with genuine Fuchs wheels and Gold badges this is a very good looking early 70’s 911, apparently drives well, and with straight through exhaust manifolds it makes all the right noises. The odometer indicates just over 3,500 miles which, we imagine, are post-restoration

Early 911s possess a certain purity of line, a complete world away from the aerodynamic extravagances of the eighties and nineties, and in terms of style, it's the early cars that engender the most appreciative glances. A well set-up and maintained 911T, 'E' or 'S' driven with an intelligent right foot will provide some of the most quintessentially rewarding driving experiences you have ever had, and even the 125bhp 911T, for sale here, will leave you with a serious grin.

Am I the only one who was surprised at the hammer price on those two BAT auctions (as in the numbers seem low)?

    BaT Description:

This 1970 Porsche 911T coupe is finished in Pastel Blue over tan and was reportedly acquired by the selling dealer from its second owner, who purchased it in 1973. Powered by a numbers-matching 2.2L flat-six paired with a 5-speed transaxle, the car has reportedly remained in the Richmond, Virginia area since new, and received a repaint and drivetrain rebuild with Weber carburetors in 1989. A Virginia state inspection was passed in January 2018. This 911 is offered by the selling dealer with records to 1989, owner’s books, a factory tool kit, and a clean Virginia title.

The car was refinished in its original Pastel Blue (2020) in 1989, and some overspray remains visible in the engine compartment. A few paint bubbles can be seen on the left door and right front fender, and other blemishes include pitting on the deck lid lettering and cracked rubber on the bumperettes. The 1989 receipt for paint and bodywork shows replacement of the front suspension pan and battery tray due to rust. New body seals and miscellaneous trim were also fitted. Fuchs 14″ alloy wheels wear 195/75 Toyo Extensa A/S tires.

The seller believes the tan interior to remain unrestored. Vinyl seat covers feature contrasting center inserts and show discoloration and seam separation. Photos are provided to show the condition of the dash as well as the carpeting, driver’s door armrest, and headliner. A Kenwood cassette deck has replaced the original radio. The 5-digit odometer currently shows 86k miles but is believed to have rolled, rendering true mileage unknown.

The front trunk houses a spare Fuchs wheel and the factory tools. The fuel tank, front suspension pan, and battery tray were replaced during 1989 refurbishment.

The 2.2L flat-six is paired with a 5-speed gearbox, and invoices in the gallery show engine and transmission rebuilds by a Richmond-area specialty shop in 1989. Weber carburetors were installed at the time and rebuilt in 2014. Block stamping 6109366 corresponds to the number recorded in the included maintenance booklet. Service receipts date from 1989-present, with gallery excerpts showing major work and the 2014 carburetor rebuild. Owner’s manuals, a book of Porsche technical specifications, and a maintenance log are included in a vinyl folio.
