    Hi Bill,

The seller of this 911T believes quite a few things. First he was absolutely sure that the VIN plate was never off the car and I got a bit bashed when I mentioned that that it has been removed (for whatever reason) and wrongly put back with screws. Still waiting for some real pics of the frunk.

Fuchs are a nice upgrade and steel-rims easily available, would be no big deal for me.

The engine number looks absolutely right to me, I see nothing that worries me there.

    Chers,
    Mike

Beautifully and professionally restored 1972 Porsche 911T Targa. Southern car, purchased in 2005 from co-worker, who originally purchased car in 1988. Original 2.4 engine was completely rebuilt in 2008 with all new internals, upgraded case studs, head studs, and updated chain tensioner by Crosswerks Porsche specialist, and master Porsche mechanic, Don Cross. The car has been driven 1000 miles since rebuild, and the valves were last adjusted 500 miles ago, in 2012. We use Valvoline VR1 oil, and genuine Porsche oil filters. Also new, are the high pressure oil lines. Stainless steel heat exchangers were added, along with a new OEM Dansk muffler. In 2008, the car was disassembled, soda blasted, and painted back the original Silver Metallic base coat with a premium clearcoat by Hot Wheels Imports in Marietta Georgia. New weather stripping, door and window seals, and body gaskets were added during reassembly. Authentic Porsche glass was reinstalled with new gaskets, felts, and seals. Fuel injection pump, and all injectors were rebuilt by Aaron Burnham in Camarillo California. Fuel filter and lift pump also replaced at that time. The interior was completely refurbished as well, with new German carpet and padding, OEM dash pad, new headliner, German Blaupunkt radio, sun visors, recovered rear package shelf, rear jump seats, and front seats. Seats are all covered in genuine black leather, with new padding, and stiffened seat springs. Original VDO gauges were disassembled, and cleaned by hand before reinstalling. New vinyl installed on targa top, door panels, and flat dash surface in 2015. New lights, lenses, and headlight bezels recently installed. New shifter bushings, ball socket, shift linkage boot, and shift rod coupling was replaced in 2013. Also replaced door hardware, and misc body hardware at that time, per mechanic’s recommendation. Car runs and drives like new on Goodyear Eagles, with trued, and professionally polished, original Fuch wheels. It has been preserved in a climate controlled garage for the last 16 years, and driven occasionally.

    BaT Description:

This Porsche 911T Targa is finished in orange over black and is powered by a 2.4-liter flat-six paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes CIS fuel injection, a removable black targa panel, polished 15″ Fuchs wheels, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo with recording capability and a microphone. The car was reportedly sold new in Honolulu, spent time in California, and then returned to Hawaii, where it was acquired by the seller in 2019. A refurbishment is said to have been carried out in the 2010s, and service since the seller’s acquisition reportedly included rebuilding the brake calipers and replacing the brake hoses, pads, and rotors. This 911T Targa shows 93k miles and is now offered with factory literature and a clean Hawaii title in the seller’s name.

Its build tag notes the car being Tangerine Orange, and the seller states that the exterior was repainted after his acquisition. Features include a black roof panel, a stainless steel targa bar, chrome headlight surrounds, and black bumperettes front and rear. The seller notes signs of metal refurbishing work, and there is a patch in the floor under the rear seat. Door dings are present and depicted in the gallery.

Fuchs 15″ wheels show January 1973 manufacture dates and wear 185/65 Pirelli P4 tires. A matching spare wheel with a 2020 date-coded Uniroyal tire is mounted in the trunk. Braking is handled by four-wheel ventilated discs. The seller states that service since 2019 includes rebuilding the brake calipers and replacing the hoses, pads, and rotors.

The cabin is upholstered in black vinyl with matching trim and replacement carpets. Equipment includes an analog clock, a locking glove box, and a Blaupunkt cassette recorder with a microphone. The seller notes that the tape deck requires finesse to operate. There is a repair on the left side of the driver seat backrest and a crack in the dash pad.

The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a suite of VDO instrumentation that includes a 150-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,250-rpm redline, and fuel level, oil level, oil temperature, and oil pressure gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 93k miles, 3k of which were added by the seller.

The 2.4-liter 911/91 flat-six features Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and produced 140 horsepower when new. Service in June 2021 reportedly included changing the oil and replacing the spark plugs, plug wires, and fuel injectors. The seller notes that the engine idles high until settling into its proper range and that there is no washer bottle or pump.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 915 five-speed manual transaxle. The seller notes that the gas tank has been replaced and that the exhaust is showing age. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery. Manufacturer’s literature is included in the sale.

I'm still on the hunt for a nice driver quality car that I can enjoy without freaking out over actually driving it. Apologies in advance if this car has already been covered here, but I couldn't find any reference . Any opinions from the cognoscenti on this car would be highly appreciated: https://www.europeancollectibles.com...-sunroof-coupe

Only a slight digression: I inquired on the following car, but have received no response to date from seller. Plus, my Canadian French is non-existent, so I couldn't follow the instructions for leaving a message on his cell phone. Looks like a very nice car. Impediments are likely the asking price plus the importation expense/hassles. Any intel greatly appreciated on this one, too: https://www.elferspot.com/en/car/por...-1970-1312578/

    TIA,

Conda green really pops at first look. But even for a driver, the rest of the car isn't a $100k car, IMO. But as I keep thinking about possibly selling my 72T, I hope they do get that much for it, because that would bode well for my car's value. But right now, I don't think that green example a $100k car. (Neither is mine, for that matter.)
