Indeed. And if the change to re-sale red wasn't bad enough by itself, worse is that the "painters" who did these jobs were generally unskilled amateurs who typically felt that if 2 coats of red was good, 6 coats would be way better.

My last two projects (the '72T and current VW pickup) were originally silver cars with horribly thick red repaints. Both have had to go to bare metal to get rid of the red. My wife says she forbids me from buying any future red projects unless the red is original.

    Dealer Description:

Every car has a story and I’ve known this 911’s story over 15 years!

I purchased it Porsche when its original owner, Ken Mercle decided to let it go way back in 2004. Ken bought this 911T new in the Detroit from Wood Imports after his 912 was stolen (welcome to Detroit in the 70’s). Ken kept a close eye on this Bahia Red 911T for the next 32 years and drove it very sparingly until it headed south to our shop. We serviced the car and held on to it for years until a great friend and client in the Seattle area talked me into selling it. This 911 has since been enjoyed by some of my exceptional clients over the years and I have always been lucky enough to get it back when the time was right. Since I’ve been keeping an eye on her she’s been well serviced, attended cars and coffee a few times, had a few exceptional day trips and was featured in Classic Porsche magazine.

This Porsche is nothing short of a time capsule with only 40,000 original miles, features factory A/C and retains its original paint. The documentation starts with the original window sticker and service records. A simply stunning, exceptionally persevered 911.

1970 Porsche 911T Targa, 106k original miles, engine rebuilt at 80k miles. I have owned since around 2003, and purchased from previous owner who brought it to Florida from California. Lots of receipts from previous owners, I drove it very little. Painted several years ago back to its factory original Signal Orange color. Have Porsche Certificate Of Authenticity. Matching and correct original engine. Paint is ok, and could use a repaint or drive as is. When painted it got rare H1 headlights, almost all new rubber seals, new seat covers, new front and rear lenses, new targa top, etc. Carbs were rebuilt and car ran great but parked it after clutch cable went bad a few years ago, then battery quit and has been sitting since and garaged. Clean and clear Florida title in my name. Hate to sell, but just don’t have time for it.
    Located in West Bradenton.

Pity the sports seats are gone ... nice car (coming from a Sepia fan ). The front lip/hood bottom looked a little funny but it could just be the light/angle

Good catch on the missing sport seats. Who would ditch a set of those?

Under previous ownership, it was restored by CPR in may 2015 including “new leather upholstery”, so the sports seats could have been gone for a while. CPR would be able to advise what was the state of affairs in 2015, I’m sure.
