    1965 911 Sold at Christie's

    Is this price for real?

    A friend just dropped off the newest issue of Automobile mag., pg 141, recap of the Christie's Auction, Greenwich Connecticut, June 3, 2007.

    1965 911, S/N 302795 Green over Black,
    Driver standard paint. Pre bid high estimate $35K.

    sold at $71,500.

    Car was a bit rough and dirty - rust here and there. Seemed very $$$ for condition. Had to ask about matching numbers, etc.

    After coming back to this thread and re-reading it, I noticed that in reality this is a '66 (based on the VIN) and not a '65 as stated.

    If my memory serves me, this car might belong to Tom Dance. I he told me at Hershey that he was putting his green car in Christies, so I wonder if it really sold for this amount. Maybe Tom can shed some light on the subject.

    Sure are a lot of knuckleheads out there. I hope the hedge fund business keeps it up so I can skin one of these guys too.

    Tom, hedge fund biz is a zero net sum... I.e. for every dollar gained is a dollar lost. Don't let them bull**** you. Keep on cruisin... Bill
