    69 S valuation question HELP!

I have a deposit on a very nice 69S, original expect for paint, low miles (67K) all documentation, mechanically perfect, decent interior (needs headliner and seats redone) rare options like sunroof, rear wiper, gas heater. The issue is we found some rust in floor pans, one side of front pan has been repaired and one jack point. Now I know rust is always a big deal on these early cars, this one has been extremely well perserved for the last 35 years but my concern is it was winter driven for a couple years and that is all it takes. Please comment.

what's the rest of it look like and how much are they asking?

Really no way to say if it's a "good deal" or not without knowing the rest of the situations.

Don't let the floor pans scare you off if the price is right.

Guy is asking in the high 40's, hard for me to really understand market for early S's right now. My assumptions are decent drivers are 40-50K and really nice ones are 70K and up.

rust is like cancer, what you don't see is far more serious than what you do see!!

Frank understood, that is my big concern. These cars rust from the inside out, when rust pokes out it head it usually pretty ugly.

    Phil,

40K seems high for a project car, which is what this is if it has significant rust.

It can be repaired at some cost, and if the car is complete with unique and good options you may be willing to take on this type of project.

It will need to be stripped to bare metal to find all needed repair(ask how I know), but once that is done you will have a great and special car.

You will most likely have more in it than todays market, but if you are going to keep it that may not be the ultimate factor for your decision.

    Regards,
    Bob

I am still not 100% sure what the correlation is of SWBs to LWBs when it comes to Esses, but if the black '67S that went over to England is worth $30K (complete but somewhat rusty and very crusty), this car is easily worth the same, if also complete. If the car is nice, with the rust shown, $40K would not shock me. The only places I fear rust is in the torsion tubes and other suspension receivers. Everything else is pretty easy to fix.

Everything else on car looks fine. I know if you have the stomach to take one apart, even one that looks on the outside will have some surprises.
    Thanks,

After further conversations with owner the rockers were replaced in the mid to late 70's, I don't if both inners and outers were done. I guess I should pass but it's such a nice car, what a shame. Car was fomerly owned by guy who started autothority, anyone know car.
