Thread: What is this bumper?

    What is this bumper?

I have seen this bumper on three 70-71 cars in the last couple weeks. Was this a popular aftermarket thing to do or is it some funky option I have never noticed?

    IIRC,
This was a 'trendy' upgrade of the late '70s or so to make a small bumper 911 look like a later car.
From memory the kit was sold by Mitcom(where are they now?) and maybe others.
IMHO better left off these days - perhaps not so trendy !!

    Cheers,
    Dennis.
1970 914-6 - materialised from the 'Lotto' garage into reality
    1971 2.2 911 S - now back in the UK - sob!
1975 Carrera Targa (ROW) - missed.
One of us is fast becoming a valuable antique.

Mitcom, that brings back many memories...

These plastic bumpers were also sold by Performance Products as well as many other Porsche parts houses.

They make a great source for black letter reflector panels, for those of us afflicted with a Turbo addiction. Paul, let me know if you have one for sale.

Tom, all that stuff is gone this winter...remind me and you can have first dibs. Think I wanna loose the ducktail too...maybe. Bought a set of those R hinges and wanna use them so will need a normal glass or cf engine lid

I had something similar to that on my car, it was the first thing I removed since it was so ugly and melted from an exhaust leak. Looks much better now.
