1965 911- in Stone Grey- any other 901's in this colour?

My early RHD 1965 901 was ordered by it's first owner in 1963 shortly after the 901 was announced, and was requested in the colour of Stone Grey.

Question: Does anyone know of any other early 911's that were painted in this colour?

Stone Grey, code 5710 is unusual for an early 911 as it was a "special" 1957 colour that was listed as available for that year only....of course being Porsche you could have any colour (or option) you wanted, which I assume is how my car came to be ordered in this colour.

Here's a copy of the original dealer order confirmation detailing the special order paint, all six kilo's of it: "Catacolor-Rundumverglasung 6 kg Farbe steingrau" : "6 kg of paint stonegrey". And the "Skai dunkelgrun" "dark green" interior......it has an emerald green leatherette interior with the standard deep grey carpets.

Here's some quick pics, including an old pic of the car pictured outside it's original owners home in the Barossa Valley, South Australia, where it lived 1965-1969.

Does anyone know of any other 911's painted in this colour? I'd be keen to see some pics if anyone has any......
    Cheers

    Great car.

Wasn't that the first 911 imported to Australia?

How close is the color on your picture to the real color? When you see the original 57/58 color chart, stone grey looks darker? (source http://members.aol.com/zenith356c/Porsche356Colors.html

When was your car delivered? Is it a 64 build car?

    Regards,

    Colour

The car is a '65 build, it was despatched from the factory after preparation for export early in June and was first registered in Adelaide in August '65.

It was the first RHD customer 911 delivered in Australia, in-fact it's original owner back in the early '50's was also the first RHD 356 customer of Porsche, when he took delivery of the first RHD Porsche built, a pre-A 356 Cabriolet.

The paint on my car is "original"......and has patinated somewhat over time.

The original Stone Grey colour is darker, yes, the paint card pictured is accurate. It has it's original 1965 issue vintage numberplate "119", and the car still wears it's original vinyl adhesive plate at the front. Under this number plate there is one section now visible and the actual darker Stone Grey colour can be seen; it's also visible in the inner door pillars too.

So, yes the original colour is darker.

.......still wondering if anyone has seen another Stone Grey 911 out there?

    Cheers

Never seen stone grey but it is one of those period colors. Very nice indeed.

I know of one 65' on the East Coast that color. I believe the owners name is Bill Block.

Apparently your car has a serial number like 3014XX - 3016XX.

For 301585 I would like to know whether your car has a leather shift boot or a rubber as well?

Also David from the UK (he is on this board) owns a 64 color stone grey. It seems to be darker than the 5710 on the paint card. His car is RHD as well and featured in the Peter Morgan Original 911 book.
