I have a set of late sport seats in black leather in excellent condition that I would like to trade for a set of early sport seats in black leather in excellent condition. Straight across -- if you're interested let me know and we can exchange details. PM or email john-at-audettecollection.com.

    Thanks,

In this context, what is late and what is early?

Most notably, single locking sliders (earlier) vs. double locking sliders (later) as well as different shaped head rests.

    Well, since we're guessing.

I would say he's looking for the 67/68 type with the seat sliders integrated into the seat, rather than integrated to the bottom bracket like the 69 to 73 type.

    Exactly.

BTW, the sport seats in my '72 911S Targa are I believe original to the car and are single lockers. I also have a set that were NOS when I purchased them a few years ago. They are double lockers, but otherwise look very much like the seats in the Targa. Were the double lockers introduced in 1973?

    Thanks,
    John

This is something I picked up for the hell of it. Not sure what I am going to do with it considering I recently purchased a set of Scheel bucket seats. I may have it recovered to match the cord Scheel and use it as a passenger. Correct me if I wrong but I believe it to be a 68 sport seat (intergrated seat adjustment and headrest). It came from a euro sporto 68 that had a normal passenger seat. I'll send it to Tony some day. Oh yeah, the recliner/rail/mounting bracket was included.

    John,

Double lockers were introduced in Sept 1972 for 1973 production. So theoretically a very early 1973 might have single lockers.

    Bob,

Yes, more than likely a true 1968 sport seat. The lack of a Recaro badge in the middle of the back seat indicates it's not an aftermarket seat.

    Eric....

Thanks for the information. Now -- how about trading me one of your sets of early sports seats (67-68) for my later seats? My set of double lockers is *really nice*. Still have "Made In Germany" tags on the bottom back.

    Cheers,
    John

    John,

Unfortunately I have only incomplete early seats as "spares" right now. There's a guy doing a perfect repro on the tilt bracket, but it's the sliders I'm having trouble with. If you're coming up to my RGruppe/EarlySRegistry campout in Leavenworth next month (Sept), you can see for yourself!

    regards,
    Eric
