    A New 67S - Research Help Needed

I just added another race car to the stable...

    1967 911S #308505S
    Known as “Myrtle”

Purchased new in Cleveland, Ohio by T. King Hedinger, this ‘67 911S was immediately built it into a race car and raced regularly in Central division SCCA and Trans Am series. King won enough races to send him to the SCCA American Road Race of Champions in ’69 & ’71 – both held at Daytona Speedway.

Later the car was owned and raced by Ara Dube of Florida. Dube ran the car in the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1976 (#84) & ’77 (#33) finishing 5th and 8th, in the GTU class, respectively.

Since 1987 the car has been vintage raced on the East Coast by Bill Ferran, Roy Sanders and Dr. Albert Carlotti.

Klub Sport Racing has just completed a ground up restoration to the original King-Hedinger livery. I plan a few more ‘retro’ mods such as steel wheels and R bucket seats and I will keep the car on the track and active in racing including at Rennsport III.

Research help needed – the car came with extensive documentation and log books, but there are some things missing. I would appreciate help finding any of the following:

    - Photos, articles & programs from the ’76 & ’77 24 Hours of Daytona.
    - Photos, articles & programs from the Trans Am races held at Mid-Ohio, Road America and Brainard between 1967-71.
    - Any other photos, history or contacts regarding this car.

    Thanks!

    Mark

*WOW* That is a stunning 911. That it has that kind of history is a big plus! Best of luck in your searches.

Very nice '67 Mark. Do you have any photos of it before it was restored? Please share as much as you can.

Do cars have souls? If they do how do they feel about being a racecar instead of a garage queen?

    Mark,

That car looks great! When will you race it? Will it be at Rennsport?

Call Bill Ferran. I know the car very well having run with Bill for years in SVRA and the early days of HSR. Bill and I were the only two guys running a 2.0 litre cars in SVRA and for that matter on the east coast vintage racing scene. Then with HSR and Club Sport 2.0 Litre racing, it took off. In any event Bill's telephone number is 904-268-7276. I also believe that when Bill sold the car it went to Prescott Kelly.
