    Unhappy "The S-03 Blues"...

Whoever was smart enough to stockpile the last of the 225x50x15 Bridgestone S-03's... I would interested if you would be willing to part with two...

Or... if anyone can come with a 205x55x15 / 225x50x15 or 205x60x15 / 215x60x15 combo that can get me anywhere close to the performance of an S-03 PLEASE let me know....

I'm think'n I just might have to buy another set of RA-1 Toyos for the street like I have for the track...

    Cheers,

Guys who run 15s for the track have to be very sad right now. I know it is blasphemy, but why not go for a lesser street tire like a P6000 or other? Their grip should be fine for the ocassional RGruppe romp through the hills.

I have a brand spankin new set of 205 and 225/50/15 BF Goodrich R-1s sitting in the garage right now. Prolly hard enough to use for street tires at this point.

    Kenikh,

Your absolutely right about the difficulty finding good DOT 15" track tires... but the Kuhmos, Michelins, and Hoosiers are still out there ... for now

As for the lesser street tire for the once a year RGruppe 'romps'......... Please... .

What do I do about the other 50 odd solo 'romps' I take during the year...

I drive my car HARD all the time... In 3 weeks I'll be driving it hard to the Monterey Historics... and back... That's what I do... I got almost 30,000 miles on the RS rebuild...and I'm lucky if I get 7500 miles on my rear street tires...

I've been spoiled driving on the most aggressive 'street' tire made... and I don't want to compromise...'fine' ain't make'n'it ... the only thing I want handling better then my street tires are my DOT's in my garage...

So there you have it bud... I want to have my cake, and eat it too...

... maybe ask Randy Wells what I'm talk'n about........

    Cheers,

I'm running into the same problem with 16" tires on my '87 Carrera with 7 & 9's. I've been using SO3 205/55 and 245/45 for years. It's basically my weekend, occasional DE car (till the '68 is ready )

I thought about going to Toyo RA-1's, but not sure I want R comps just yet, esp for street driving.

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Chuck,
I don't know availability of 15" sizes but there have been a lot of really good DOT race/Auto-X tires made recently that work well on street as well, Falken, Nitto etc.
    etc.
    Good Luck,

    Phil

    Chuck,

Have you looked into these? Michelin Pilot Exalto PE 2? I put them on the twin-plug, before our day at Willow several months back..They held up well....good grip
And that was NOT a romp in the hills...

I know do NOT get the BF Goodrich models, very weak for the street.
