    Color of heater control boxes

The original factory color of both heater control boxes, was that always reddish brown, as seen here? The ones on my '73 are toast, reproduction boxes are black, and don't know the color of new Porsche boxes.

I used Rattle Can Rustoleum "Regal Red". Wasn't an exact match, but no one who has been underneath any of my cars has been so crass as to hold their nose and say "eeeewgh". And it was close enough for me.

My solution was red oxide primer followed by a clear coat. Looked good to me!

Beware: the currently available version is a multiple supercession that doesn't work with the SWB cable.
