Fuel pumps question from 64 to 73

The transition from mechanical twinpump I have read was at enginenumber 907001, when the webers was introduced, was this early 66? When did the Hardi and bendix pumps get introduced and where was those pumps located. When did the pump get moved to behind the fuel tank? I know the pump was moved from behind the fueltank to the rear in early 71. The two last pumps, where they both Bosch?

    John,

Bendix pump was used WITH the dual cam-drive pumps. The Bendix pump lifted fuel from the tank and the twin pumps recirculated it through the Solex carburetors.

You are correct, 907001 was the first Weber engine, so the twin pumps went away and the Bendix remained. Both Hardi and Bendix were mounted on the engine electrical console in the port side of the engine compartment.

I don't know when the Hardi pump came in, probably 1968.

I believe, but I don't know for sure, that the cutover to the Bosch pumps was in 1969. Certainly this is true for the E and S, and I imagine the T went to the lower-pressure Bosch with a return line at that point. A check of PET would help here.

    Great 304065!

Just what I needed to know. I have looked in the manuals, but did not figure out that the mec. and elect. pumps was used together in the early cars.
