    Monterey

At the end of a thread about the ex Otis Chandler RS being auctioned in Monterey, there is a bit of traffic about who will be out there the weekend after this one. Thought it might be useful to get a poll of who will be there and where - maybe could organize a beer or drive.

    Hi Steven,

I will be flying into San Jose around noon on Thurs, then driving to the Bonhams auction site to check out the RS. I will be staying at a small place called the Merritt House which is right next to the Russo Steele auction and around the corner from the RM auction.

I will be going to Concorso on Friday and then heading to Laguna Seca for Saturday and Sunday. So yeah if we can come up with a time & place to meet for beers (or whatever) that would be fun. Maybe Friday night in downtown Monterey?

I'm driving down from SF either Friday late or very early Saturday. If something gets set up for Friday that would be sufficient motivation to get my act together and get down there.

Brian, I'll be coming down my RS, #1282.

    Regards,

    Jeff

    Jeff,

Will you be at the track on Sat.? If so I hope we can meet up out there if not before.

Have you guys looked at the auction catelogues for the various events? I looked a little bit last night and Kruse looks like dog. Very small group of not too exciting stuff unless you want to bid on a Cayenne. Gooding has added another day at Pebble Beach and looks to have some fantastic cars to sell. I will definitely head over there sometime to check out Blackhawk and well as the cars up for sell on Sat. and Sunday at PB.

    Brian,

Yes, I'll be at Laguna Seca on Saturday, and Pebble Beach on Sunday.

I'm parking at the local PCA region corral inside Turn 5. If we don't run into each other, call me at 925-518-7046.

I also plan to check out the Bonham's RS just for yucks at some point (still no acknowledgment on their site of the engine number issue). RM Auction looks interesting as well; the Porsches aren't anything special, although there are recreations of an RSR and a Gulf 917 for sale. However, there are a number of general interest sports and racing cars, such as 1937 Mercedes 540K and some interesting race cars.

I won't be out there this year. Brian, I'd like to get your impressions of the yellow LP 400 Countach at Russo and Steele. I know a potential buyer who will be registered to phone bid.

A beast to drive... but the early, pre-aero kit cars are absolutely stunning.
