    Project 911T - Day 1

Just delivered today: 1970T with rebuilt 2.2 motor. Needs a complete respray after attention to a few rust areas.

Do you ever get used to the dogleg 1st gear position?

    More to come.

The dogleg first gear is a huge part of the charm of an early 911 to me, it takes very little time to get used to. The car mags of the era would all bitch and moan about it but that was because they spent so little time in the cars...

I for one love it as its part of the unique character of an early 911 and reminds of racing around with my older brother in his Solex equipped 66...

    Ulrich,
Yes - one of the charms of the 901/911 trans era is the fluidity of shifting but only when the mechanism from the pedal box to the correct trans oil has been set up correctly.
Leaves the 915 trans for dead IMHO.
This is a major reason I bought my car almost four years ago.
Care though - this trans is not for traffic driving - get a Sporto for that .
Enjoy !! - the colour is a fave of mine !

    Cheers,
    Dennis

Huh???? What's wrong with the dogleg deal????? I love it and wouldn't have it any other way. It's something that sorta grows on ya and becomes as natural as having se....... ok, maybe not that natural, but you get the idea.
