A new low point for the CoA

I just yesterday recieved the CoA for our '71 S Targa, which is VIN 9111310226. I have been meaning to get one for quite a while because I was hoping to find out the original options. Well here is what I get for $105.95.

    VIN: 911310226

    Model Year/ Type: 1971 911 T Karmann coupe

    Engine Number: 6210442

I could not believe my eyes when I read this information. To start with the 4th digit in the VIN was left off and from there someone determined the VIN was a '71 T coupe with a '71 2.2L E motor!

So this morning I called PNA and started the process of cleaning up this mess. The CoA does seem to be a bad joke especially for early 911s.

I saw one the other day that showed alloy "cup" wheels is 17 inch for a 1967 911S.......Iam serious. I have been saying for years not to trust those things. In addition I have heard more than one time in which individuals have called and been permitted to dictate what was on the car. This situation occurred when the owner got someone on the phone handling the COA and was asked "what do you need it to say?"

Indeed pathetic! Sorry, yes go back. The "girls" there are nice, of course they know nothing of vintage Porsches having been born years after the cars were made.

And, what is REALLY sad, is that there is MUCH more information. There is an individual in an unnamed European country where they speak many languages That has ALL the kardexes for the early Porsches. So, it is sad PCNA can't do better.

    Hello all.

I would suggest approaching Marco Marinello in Switzerland for this information rather than the "official channels",,I have heard he has it all..

    Kind regards

I want everyone to know that my HP laser printer works wonderfully, and if you would kindly send me your $105.95 I will be happy to print out a COA that is accurate for your car ... I have books.

Here's my beef: Mercedes and Ferrari have both recently instituted high-quality, FACTORY vintage restoration programs. Why can't Porsche seem to get on board? There's $$$$$$ to be made and good publicity to be gained from such a program.

EDIT: And I'm not talking about just mechanical restoration and/or support. Ferrari and Mercedes have also made their extensive records available to vehicle owners, too.
