Nice 1967 911S survivor for sale

    SOLD!
    Thanks to everyone!

    -------------------------------------

I have thought long and hard about this, so please, no "Don't do it--you will regret it!" replies.

I am thinking of selling my '67S, and I would like it to go to a good home. I have always harbored hopes of restoring it to pristine condition, but the reality is that my '68 R-look and my '73 RS-look projects, as well as the mods I would like to make to my LeGrand sportsracer, are making that a very distant probability, and I simply do not have the time, space or the funding to do everything I want to do.

I know I could put it on eBay, but I would like to have more control over what happens to it, and I think this is the place where I am most likely to find someone who will be able to appreciate and care for the car properly.

I have made up a detailed web page with many pics, describing the car completely. You can access it here:
    http://members.rennlist.com/tweedt/1967911s.htm
The Rennlist server can be slow at times, and there are many images on the page, so it may take awhile to load, depending on your connection speed. Please be patient. I have been careful to document all the known flaws of the car to avoid any disappointments for the buyer, but overall, it is a solid, honest example, with a known history, that still looks great and is in very good mechanical shape, ready to drive anywhere.

I have been watching values on similar cars carefully lately, and I have determined that I will not accept less than $45,000 USD for the car, including all the extra bits I have collected for it (all listed on the webpage). I think this is a fair price for it in today's market, and would allow someone to invest another $30-40K in a cosmetic restoration without being upside-down on it.

Serious inquiries only, please, no brokers or "low-ball" offers.

    Thx,
    TT

I am bumping this ad up for the labor day weekend before I go ahead and put a listing on eBay to get some more exposure for it.

    Thx,

What a fantastic advert for a fabulous car !

If only all sellers produced such an in-depth, honest appraisal of their cars...

I have been contemplating buying a '67S - before they get completely out of reach - & this really would be the perfect car (as I feel a total empathy with everything that you've done to it) but unfortunately the timing is not quite right as I need to sell my 2.8 twin-plugged car first.

Best of luck with the sale - I am amazed that it hasn't already sold.

Thanks Andy (and Aaron!) for the positive comments. I aimed to give people what I would want to know about the car if I were the buyer instead of the seller. I value honesty and integrity very highly, and would hope for nothing less if I were on the other side of the table.

I have no illusions about the very narrow target market for this kind of car, and how long it might take to find the right person to buy it. How many members and lurkers are there in the Registry forums? A few thousand at most? And not many of them are even in the market, currently. Like yourself, they have already found or built their cars and are out enjoying them.

If I widen my efforts to find the right buyer by advertising the car through eBay and other mediums, I'm sure I could shorten the timeframe, but at this moment I am still looking for the right buyer, someone who will appreciate and care for the car as I have, and not just any buyer. As time goes by, perhaps I will become less discriminating, but I am not desperate to sell it, by any means.

Before I even put up this ad here, I offered it privately to 3 members who posted that they were looking for a car over the last several months, and very nearly sold the car twice. Both of those deals ultimately fell thru when they found worthy candidates closer to their homes, so I decided to post a more public offering. Next may be eBay, I don't know. "Poco a Poco", as our Latin friends say.

    Great Job

    Tom...

This is the finest effort of offering a car for sale that I have ever seen - complete, honest, informative, and interesting. I wish the timing was right for me. Good luck with the sale.

It appears that my car is going to a new owner in Holland. Thanks to everyone for their comments and to the Registry for being such a great resource.
