Fuel Filter Questions

Presume the 1967 911S came with a fuel filter, though my car has none.

Can anyone help with the correct location and type?

The filter is in the bottom of the original Bendix electric fuel pump--a replaceable screen element and a magnet for ferrous particles accessed by removing the bottom cap of the cylindrical pump.

Is your pump original?

Yes, the original pump. Glad I didnt install the aftermarket fuel filter I bought yesterday.

Are replacement screens available for the original or can they be cleaned and reused? Anything tricky to be careful about on the removal? Does the gasket need to be replaced?

Since the bendix pumps are NLA, it might be hard to find the replacement screen filters, but it's possible Facet elements might work, since they sort of copied those pumps.

They can be serviced and cleaned, though, so if yours is undamaged, go for it. Same with the gasket (although that would be easier to replace or fabricate if necessary). Here are the repair manual instructions for that operation from just below the picture above (in typical factory underspeak):

The sticker might be on the wrong side since when this mounts on the left side you can't see the sticker?

The original has banjo fittings, not straight fittings, and the bracket to mount it is located on the left side, not the right. That must be an old 356C photo or something.
