A C type Auto Union is a beautiful thing.

The men who drove those cars (Rosemeyer Varzi, Stuck, etc) were something special. To listen to one running is an amazing aural pleasure. Not unlike hearing a P-51 passing overhead. I had the pleasure a few years back at Monterey...

    Can you say oversteer...

Dwight - I heard thru the 'grapevine' that you've got one of the $38,000 1:8 scale Auto Unions. And I thought I was nuts because I've got several hundred 1:43's .....

How did I manage not to see this when I was at your house?

    Curt,
    you have outed me
I will post some pics soon.
I read a book way back in 2001 about the AU cars and got in touch with Martin then; it took 5years to have the car finished and delivered but it was worth the wait !
My collection is no where as vast as yours Curt , I have mainly 1:18, 1:10 and 1:12 scales.
I love the AU cars and dont think current F1 give them as much credit as they should.
CMC does an amazing job in the 1:18 scale cars and they have an amazing type C, D and hillclimb car.
    Here is their website:

PS..Curt let me know if you want to get some CMC.

Curt, Do you have the newer Schuco 1:18 scale record car? All metal and not offered many places. I have it and can post some pics. Pre-war is my favorite era. I have lots of art and sketches that I am working on a series for a show. Rudy and all the gang, especially D. Seaman.

I am in talks with Nassau County LI.NY to do a sculpture/statue on the Vanderbilt raceway site in Westbury to honor these great racecars that came here to NY back in the 30's. Lots of red tape. The area is covered by shopping and parking lots. I have some nice drawings and mock ups. i am also in talks with NYC for a sculpture or something to honor Max Hoffman on his Park Ave showroom now run by MBUSA.

Enjoy one of my study oil paintings on paper I did to honor Rosenmeyer.
