    Buyer Beware - Poissible E-Bay Scam - for 72 S Targa

Just wanted to post my thoughts and experience so Far with this e-bay seller who is currently offering a 1972 911 S Targa on E-bay this week

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...163926276&rd=1

I e-mailed him and told him I was interested in the car and wanted to buy it. I asked him where I could come and see it first. He told me the car was located in Manhatten, NY. I also asked him how much he wanted for the car and he told me $12K. I told him I'll take it no questions asked.
I asked him when I could come and get it, he said next week. Given the price and the photos I told him I wanted it ASAP. I told him I could come over today. He said no, next week. Then I got this e-mail

"I think we get missunderstanding in here.
You need to wire me the deposit so i can hold this car and wait till you came here and see the car. I cant keep this car for you if i dont get any deposit from you."

I said fine, no problem. Meet me at the address you gave me and I'll pay for the car in Full. -- NO RESPONSE YET FROM THE SELLER

as always...Buyer beware, Besides, the plate on the car looks foreign and this does NOT look like Manhatten.

Yeah its a scam even for a T this nice you'd fetch more than that!!!!!
Constantly amazed at the ignorant scammers not even trying to be believable or
    realistic in their offerings.

    Scam! Definately A Scam!

I called the real owner of the Ebay account and was told that they do not own a Porsche!

I also contacted this seller early in the auction, but I received no response at all. Iassumed it was a scam. The cover-up he did on the license plates indicates the car is actually wearing a European plate in the rear. Not unheard of, but not likely either.

BTW, I am in Manhattan so if he tries to give anybody a funny address I'd be glad to follow up just for kicks.

A definite Scam! If its to good to be true it probably isn't!
I emailed him as well he promptly returned my messages 4 times ...said I nor
my counterpart in manhattan could see it till fri morn or this sunday when he would have plenty of time to answer any questions concerning the car..but first a thousand dollar deposit would end auction for a price of 15K !
I said I'm in DC and will come tomorrow call me ...no response.
You know when you feel your own greed and desire to score well up your
getting ready to get TAKEN! Stay away ...thanks Bert
