    rubber insert

    Hi Burint,

I bought it directly from Porsche here in the Netherlands, but Stoddard should be able to help you. PET 901.505.405.51. Probably cheaper due to the lower US$ compared to the Euro. Check also for a complete set, alu trim with rubber insert and backing seal.

    Burint,

Do you by any chance know the quality of the Aluminum Carpet Trim & Threshold Plates that he sells? Do they look exactly like the real thing? Is there a noticeable difference between the originals and the Rennspeed's?

    Thanks,
    Neil

My opinion is none of the repro is correct. The best I've seen is to get your original deco reanodized, buy the rubber insert from Porsche, and for the rubber insert under the deco buy the 356 stuff from INTL Mercantile. The repro stuff is too wide. Otherwise I think all the repro stuff comes from the same source initially. And for the rear the repro decos DON'T fit the bumper profile.

Ed, thank you for taking the time to respond. I had heard this about the repro fronts, which was why I wanted some feedback. I am guessing these are the ones produced by Tasker. Regarding the rear though, I had read somewhere that the rear's sold by Stoddard were good quality. See link below for these.

My original deco has the slots where the rubber bumperetts where. Now that they have been removed there is a small section of the aluminum channel that was removed at the factory when the rubber bumperetts were installed. Does this affect the installation of the new rubber insert?

    Mark,
I could be wrong, but that doesn't look right. The overriders (bumperettes) are notched with the profile of the trim, and designed to install directly on top of the trim. If you removed the overriders, you should see the complete rubber trim (with aluminum track). There would be a hole for the bolt to pass through the deco strip.

Unfortunately for me, that is not the case as you can see.
